The Research Management & Innovation Directorate (RMID) provides professional leadership and operational delivery across the full research and innovation lifecycle. With approximately 500 staff, RMID is one of the sector's most comprehensive research and innovation professional communities. Its work is delivered through nine specialist departments: Innovation & Commercialisation; the Clinical Trials Office; e Research; Operations & Strategic Planning; Research Governance, Ethics & Integrity; Research Grants & Contracts; Research Infrastructure; Research Strategy & Performance; and Research Talent. Through a hybrid model of central functions and Faculty embedded teams, RMID provides integrated support across research funding, compliance, digital enablement, research culture and integrity, infrastructure, sustainability, talent development and innovation.

About the role

The Senior Change Manager role sits within the Research Management & Innovation Directorate (RMID) and plays a critical part in enabling the effective implementation and adoption of research systems. The role focuses on embedding new and improved processes into existing ways of working, ensuring that academic, research and professional services colleagues are supported through change.

The RMID Directorate works to enhance the University's research environment and performance by delivering fit-for-purpose systems and improving research support processes.

The Senior Change Manager will work closely with RMID leadership, faculty research support teams, academic researchers, and programme teams to ensure smooth and successful transition to new research systems and ways of working.

This is a full time (35 hours per week) post, offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. Educated to Degree Level standard or equivalent relevant experience

2. Experience within the Higher Education sector or adjacent/similar sector and understanding of the context we operate in

3. A Prosci / change management qualification

4. Solid knowledge and understanding of change management methodologies, tools and techniques. Prosci is our chosen methodology.

5. Experience as a change manager on transformation projects

6. Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to build "trusted advisor" relationships with senior colleagues

7. Strong interpersonal skills and team working, tact, diplomacy and perseverance

8. Experience in planning and facilitating training and awareness/engagement events

Desirable criteria

1. Experience working with research management systems or digital research infrastructure.
