The UCLH Urology department and North Central London Cancer Alliance (NCLSA) department are seeking a motivated Senior Project Manager to join the team.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide expert project management support to Urology within UCLH and the Cancer Alliance to ensure delivery of a number of projects within the overall programme.

The overall aim for these projects is improving care for patients with urological cancer or suspected urological cancer

Working for our organisation

In this role, you will be working in one of the largest Urology departments in the UK providing highly specialised Uro-oncology care, including robotic surgery, prostate focal therapy, and superficial bladder cancer treatments.

The post holder will work very closely with other trusts as part of the North Central and East London network and therefore you will be required to build and maintain close relationships with a wide range of clinical and operational teams.

Person specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Educated to a higher degree or significant equivalent experience
  • Project-management qualification or significant equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of issues in cancer care / services
  • Knowledge and experience of project management using tools such as PRINCE 2, MSP, etc.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding of cancer pathways, and/or primary care

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Extensive experience of running large scale projects/ programmes in a large, complex organisation or network/system
  • Successful record of managing and implementing substantial service transformation and organisational change projects
  • Significant experience of working with partners and stakeholders in delivering sensitive changes to services.
  • Experience of working closely with stakeholders to inform and implement initiatives.
  • A proven success in business planning and in the development and effective implementation of large scale strategic plans
  • Experience of strategic planning and leading decision making in prioritisation of complex work flows

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of effective financial management
  • Experience of management within the NHS

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of multidisciplinary issues and commitment to multidisciplinary working
  • Excellent communication skills, including negotiation, with the proven ability to liaise effectively within a multidisciplinary team based environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks within agreed time scales.
  • Project management skills
  • Evidence of ability to identify and achieve goals, with a focus on a sector wide impact
