Senior Buyer - Contract Manufacture (Electronics)

The Senior Buyer - Contract Manufacture (Electronics), will have a broad wealth of knowledge encompassing build to print commodities and developmental design through to NPI/Volume partnering. This role will be managing a critical scope of electronic supply and will be required to build a strong, credible relationship with both internal and external customers. The role will be responsible for the development of commercial strategies built around complex engineered products and designs and therefore be able to draft and build statements of work and negotiate their subsequent terms and conditions that protect the business IPR and build relationships in the most cost effective and commercially advantageous manner.
This role will provide the bridge between NPI and full production builds in a volume-production facility and deliver a sustainable high quality, low cost solution in both on and off-shore locations around the world.
To succeed in this position, candidates should have exceptional technical and commercial acumen with the gravitas to build rapport with contract manufacturing leaders.
Requirements
Specific responsibilities include:
- Define and implement complex electronic supply chain strategies to meet the current and future manufacturing requirements
- Lead the identification, qualification and development of strategic suppliers partners
- Develop and build strategic relationships with existing key suppliers
- Lead the identification of supply and subsequent negotiations, apply knowledge of commercial contract law and guidelines, practices and requirements to assess, plan and negotiate best terms and conditions that minimise risk
- Establish and maintain sound professional relationships with suppliers. Resolve issues (e.g. pricing, quality, timing, claims, contract disputes, etc.) associated with terms and conditions of associated agreements
- Definition, development and execution of supplier KPI's that contribute to the overall cost and success of the scope of supply
- Be the subject matter expert and lead the collaboration with internal departments and external parties to fulfil the given scope of supply
- Manage and maintain a formalised Risk register for the individual scopes of supply and the extended supply chain
- Define and develop key measures on industry and commodity trends and recommend action as appropriate
- Understand demand/spend profile for commodity areas, and provide this information as necessary
- Track and report cost savings or avoidances and engineering change within the supply chain
