We are modernising our data and analytics capabilities and, as a Senior BI Developer, you will play a key role in innovating our business intelligence service. As part of our trust's ambitious digital journey, we are also implementing a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. Your expertise will be crucial in extracting, analysing, and visualising data from this new system to ensure it delivers maximum value for clinicians and patients alike.

Main duties of the job
As an experienced BI developer, the post holder will design and implement business intelligence solutions to support data reporting at the trust. They will be proficient in the use of innovative software including Power BI, Power Automate and Python, and have the skills and knowledge to analyse health-related data.
As a key member of the trust's development team, they will play an important role in the design and implementation of the trust's business intelligence solutions, using version control software such as GIT to maintain quality, and follow software development project management methodologies such as Agile or Scrum to ensure adequate documentation of all data structures, feeds, scripts, and processes are maintained.
They will develop new dashboards in Power BI, bringing together data from multiple sources to provide useful insights for clinical and operational colleagues at the trust.

Essential criteria
- Relevant MSc (Master of Science) degree or equivalent experience in IT, business intelligence, data science or another relevant field
Skills
Essential criteria
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Advanced Python and R skills
- Advanced Power Automate skills
- Advanced SQL (Structured Query Language) skills
- Competent using business intelligence tools (e.g. QlikView, Tableau, SSRS/SSAS).
- Advanced Power BI Skills
- Experience with analysis software for interrogating large datasets
- Ability to convey complex information to staff with non-technical backgrounds
Desirable criteria
- Presentation skills, with experience in undertaking presentations to senior colleagues, external stakeholders, etc.

Specific Role Requirement
Essential criteria
- Ability to write clear and concise reports and present information relevant to sphere of responsibility within agreed timescales
- Excellent communicator with effective persuasion and negotiation skills and the ability to motivate and influence others

- Understanding of national key performance standards including emergency 4hour access, 18 weeks referral to treatment, cancer and diagnostic access

- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Experience of correlating data from different sources and in the analysis of large and complex datasets

- Working knowledge of extract, transform and load (ETL) processes
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a business intelligence function within a healthcare setting
- Understanding of NHS data definitions, standards and performance requirements across the NHS.
- Experience of managing projects simultaneously
- Experience of capacity and demand management
- Working knowledge of trust's key systems including PAS (Patient Administration System), EMIS (Egton Medical Information Systems) & Extramed
