You'll collaborate with marketing, legal, and external stakeholders to shape go-to-market plans, grow brand reach, and embed a proactive, insight-led BD culture.

Main Responsibilities:

Business Development Strategy

  • Develop and deliver BD plans aligned to practice area growth objectives and marketing campaigns
  • Lead strategic targeting and relationship development with key intermediaries, referrers, and professional networks
  • Identify emerging market opportunities, sectors or regions for expansion

Relationship Management & Partnerships

  • Build and manage trusted relationships with introducers, partners, medical professionals, charities, and influencers
  • Support the development of long-term strategic partnerships that generate qualified leads and enhance brand positioning
  • Develop tools and messaging to support service teams in referral and relationship engagement
  • Work with the Events Team to identify and maximise opportunities where events can strengthen referral relationships and open new markets.
  • Coach and support lawyers in networking, relationship-building, and visibility through events, speaking engagements, and thought leadership

Key Account Management

  • Manage and grow relationships with priority accounts across clinical negligence, serious injury, and Court of Protection
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to support account delivery, relationship development, and tailored marketing or service initiatives
  • Monitor account performance, satisfaction, and value generation - using data to inform strategic decisions
  • Act as a central point of contact for key clients/referrers and ensure consistent, value-led engagement

Market-Facing Lawyer Model

In-Market Presence & Thought Leadership

  • Actively identify and attend relevant sector, referrer, and client events to grow networks and stay close to market trends
  • Work with lawyers and subject matter experts to develop their market presence through events, speaking opportunities, and authored content
  • Proactively seek out partnerships and visibility opportunities aligned to our key service areas and strategic audiences
  • Represent the firm externally and ensure that insights gathered from the market are fed back into BD strategy and targeting plans
  • Ensure event participation and speaking opportunities are strategically targeted, supporting business development priorities and high-value markets

Commercial Insight & Reporting

  • Track BD performance metrics, including lead source, pipeline conversion, and referrer value
  • Report regularly to leadership on BD activity, trends and commercial impact
  • Use insight to refine BD strategies and shape future targeting priorities

Campaign & Go-To-Market Integration

  • Collaborate with marketing, brand, PR, and digital colleagues to ensure BD is embedded in campaign planning and execution
  • Contribute to the development of integrated go-to-market strategies that align brand awareness, content, and relationship building

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Support knowledge sharing, capability building, and team development
  • Contribute to a collaborative, insight-led team culture focused on delivering measurable impact

Essential Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Proven experience in a senior business development, client relationship or partnerships role
  • Strong understanding of professional services, ideally legal, healthcare, or other referral-driven sectors
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders
  • Commercially astute with experience using data to shape strategy and demonstrate impact
  • Confident working with senior leaders and fee earners to influence client and referrer engagement

Desirable

  • Knowledge of serious injury, clinical negligence, or similar specialist legal areas
  • Experience developing market-facing professionals or key account engagement models
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and reporting tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce)
  • Event management, speaker engagement or networking support experience
  • Confident and credible in external settings, with experience representing a business at events or with senior stakeholders
