Role: Head of Financial Regulatory Compliance

Reports to: General Counsil

Location: London (Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office)

This role is critical in ensuring we maintain full compliance with FCA regulations across all permissions, safeguard customer outcomes, and proactively manage regulatory change.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and commercially-minded compliance professional with deep knowledge of UK financial services regulation, particularly within digital environments.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the design and execution of the compliance strategy aligned with business growth and FCA requirements and present findings at Rightmove's regulatory board meetings.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with FCA regulations under relevant permissions (insurance distribution, mortgage broking, and credit broking/introduction).
  • Maintain and enhance policies, procedures, monitoring plans, and controls in line with FCA expectations (e.g., SYSC, PROD, CONC, ICOBS, MCOB).
  • Coordinate and lead on thematic reviews, manage third party compliance advisers and prepare high quality board updates
  • Act as the FCA SMF16 (Compliance Oversight) if applicable.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, FCA interactions, and manage any supervisory engagements or audits.
  • Partner with product, data, and engineering teams to embed compliance controls in digital customer journeys and platforms.
  • Manage regulatory horizon scanning and advise senior management on upcoming changes, such as Consumer Duty or AI-related guidance.
  • Lead internal and external compliance training, awareness, and culture initiatives.
  • Monitor and review complaints, breaches, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting (SARs) and conduct risk assessments to drive continual improvement.
  • Collaborate with external legal, audit, and regulatory advisors as needed.
  • Support risk management and internal control frameworks and contribute to board-level governance.
  • Supervise and support 1od compliance managers
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to implement a proportionate financial crime solution, including the design of sustainable "to-be" processes and utilising external financial crime tools where appropriate.

Who you are

  • 8+ years in financial services compliance, with demonstrable experience in FCA-regulated environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of FCA Handbook (especially MCOB, ICOBS, CONC, and SYSC).
  • Experience with digital platforms and technology-led financial services firms.
  • Proven track record leading a compliance function, ideally as an SMF16/SMF17.
  • Excellent understanding of conduct risk, TCF, and Consumer Duty principles.
  • Skilled in interpreting regulation and implementing practical, scalable compliance frameworks.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile and cross-functional settings.

Preferred:

  • Experience in both insurance and mortgage sectors.
  • Understanding of data protection, digital marketing compliance, and AI governance.
