This role combines analytical expertise with process improvement and automation insight. You will take ownership of shaping "as-is" and "to-be" processes, working side-by-side with developers to make sure automation delivers those outcomes with clarity, control, and scalability. Operating with a high level of autonomy, you will influence both tactical delivery and long-term transformation, collaborating with Product Managers, Engineers, and operational stakeholders to ensure automation delivers sustainable outcomes and measurable business value.
Job Duties
- Lead business analysis across automation initiatives, ensuring business needs are clearly defined, traceable, and refined in collaboration with automation developers.
- Analyse current ("as-is") processes and re-engineer them into future-state ("to-be") designs optimised for automation, scalability, and risk control.
- Translate high-level business objectives into structured, detailed requirements, ensuring automation developers can build efficient, effective, and compliant workflows.
- Partner with automation developers throughout the build lifecycle to clarify requirements, validate logic, and ensure implemented solutions meet intended outcomes.
- Conduct impact assessments and value analysis to identify, prioritise, and justify automation opportunities across business areas.
- Develop business cases and define key success metrics (ROI, time savings, error reduction, compliance improvements) to evaluate automation performance.
- Maintain documentation and traceability for automated processes, ensuring alignment with governance, risk, and audit standards.
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder sessions to uncover automation potential, validate assumptions, and align expectations across business and technical teams.
- Support the establishment of best practices and frameworks for automation delivery, contributing to standards for requirements, testing, and release readiness.
- Mentor junior analysts and act as a subject matter expert in business analysis for automation projects, promoting consistency and quality across initiatives.
- Stay informed about emerging trends in automation, AI, and process optimisation to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Strong experience in business analysis within digital, technology, or product-led environments, ideally with exposure to automation or process optimisation.
- Demonstrable experience working with automation developers or RPA teams to refine, validate, and implement automated workflows.
- Proven expertise in process discovery, re-engineering, and documentation, with the ability to design automation-ready "to-be" processes.
- Hands-on experience with automation platforms such as UiPath, Blue Prism, Power Automate, or similar, and an understanding of their capabilities and constraints.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical automation teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to evaluating automation impact and performance.
- Familiarity with agile delivery and iterative development methods, with experience refining requirements through sprints or automation cycles.
- Exceptional documentation standards, with proficiency in tools such as Confluence, Jira, Visio, or Business Process Model Notation (BPMN) modelling.
- Confident engaging senior stakeholders, influencing decision-making, and aligning automation initiatives with broader business objectives.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple concurrent initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
