As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design and build scalable and robust systems that enable and support our new free-to-play game in Unreal Engine.
Reports to
You will report to the Lead Backend Engineer.
What will you do?
- Design and build scalable and robust systems that enable and support our game
- Gather and analyze requirements together with other stakeholders
- Lead and mentor junior colleagues
- Help develop deployment infrastructure
- Work together with game developers, DevOps engineers, and producers
What are we looking for?
- Hands-on experience of designing and developing microservice architectures to produce scalable, maintainable backend systems
- Kotlin Proficiency, including familiarity with Spring Boot and/or its alternatives
- Good understanding of RDBMS, NoSQL databases
- Experience with real-time communication protocols (WebSockets, gRPC etc), and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ etc)
- Experience with test-driven development with a high level of quality
- Experience of developing game backend architectures (state management, real-time player interactions, high load); systems that support matchmaking, leaderboards, and in-game economies etc
- Independent, analytical and a high level of ownership
- Successfully delivered highly scalable systems into production
- Strong communication skills in English
