Job Description

Based on our site at Skelton Grange, Leeds, we have a great opportunity available for an experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP). Energy from Waste (EfW) experience is highly desirable. This is a Contractor position, with the potential to move to further HZI projects across our UK and possibly global locations, after completion.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ). Actively encouraging and leading the HZI and contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements
  • Ensure that relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and, in consultation with site management, HSE and Commissioning team, that HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
  • Ensure that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
  • Ensure that adequate precautions are taken to provide safety from the system whilst construction / commissioning work is carried out
  • Responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under their control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised
  • Oversee installation of the HV switching equipment (11kV or higher in special circumstances) and LV switching equipment
  • Oversee the energization of the equipment
  • Responsible for switching operations on the HV and LV switch gear and boards supplied by HZI and HZI Contractors
  • Prepare and manage safety documents (Safe systems of work) applicable to electrical activities on site. This shall include Switching schedules and Permit system
  • Lead the log-out / Tag-out office and coordinate all permit to safe work on the installation.
  • Coordinate with the Site Manager / Commissioning Manager/ Site HSE Manager on all site related activities
  • Deliver Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projects
  • Liaise with the District Network Operator (DNO) and Independent Connection Party (ICP) on all aspects of connections and switching on the network
  • Participate in site meetings, and work closely with Commissioning to ensure full understanding of the testing program.

Qualifications

Job specific qualification:

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical
  • Experience as site electrical supervisor within construction or related field
  • Energy from Waste experience is highly desirable
  • Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or equivalent
  • Experienced as a leader in HSEQ Management and knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal and management system requirements
  • Valid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC), Safepass (ROI), CSCS or CCNSG card or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite applications
  • HV operational safety trained with a recognised training body
  • Experience as LoTo coordinator.
  • Minimum 5 years site experience as an active Appointed Person
