We are seeking a Senior Attendance Officer to join the Team Around the School and Setting (TASS), part of the innovative Education Division of Children's Services.

Senior Attendance Officers undertake direct work with children, educational settings and families to support improved outcomes for children and young people with additional needs. They line manage the Attendance Practitioners and support the Attendance Leads to ensure the delivery of a programme of support to improve attendance for named schools. The post holder will require specialist knowledge, high quality service delivery and an ability to work with a range of professionals and families.

We are looking for a skilled practitioner with a genuine interest in this area, who is experienced in working within an educational setting to support attendance and engagement with learning. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with children, young people, families and school staff. You will also be required to provide support and advice to staff you line manage.

Further to this, you will have demonstrable skills in:

  • Assessing individual needs and monitoring progress against desired outcomes
  • Applying a wide range of approaches to work with children and families, including those with SEND
  • Ensuring that all work delivered to settings is in line with the wider aspirations of the Education Division and exploits opportunities for integrated working with partners at every opportunity.
  • Identifying work priorities and managing your own workload to meet deadlines
  • Communicating complex information clearly and confidently, orally and in writing, to a range of audiences

We currently have 4 posts available based at County Hall, Lewes and Cavendish House, Hastings. There is flexibility for some home working as part of a hybrid working model. You will be supported through regular supervisions, case discussions and peer support.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
