Who are we looking for?

Exciting new opportunity to support Carne's UK Authorised Fund Management business; as the team in London is small; there will be the opportunity perform activities outside of their main responsibilities which will aid the running of the team.

What are the minimum requirements you need for the role?

  • 3-4 years' experience of working for a Fund Administrator or an Authorised Fund Manager that oversees fund NAV production.
  • Third level qualification in business/finance/economics or similar.
  • Recognised accounting qualifications preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of private market funds/asset classes (P.E, Infrastructure, Real Estate, Private Credit)
  • Detailed understanding of operational processes performed by Fund administrators.
  • Detailed understanding of fund accounting, including accruals and productions of financial statements (knowledge of IA SORP an advantage).
  • Detailed understanding of operational processes performed by an authorised asset management business.
  • Have a good knowledge of MS Excel & a mindset to automate.

What is your role and your responsibilities?

Provide 2nd level checks and controls for fund operation activities carried out by our colleagues in Kilkenny & Wexford. You'll also be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining an effective control framework to ensure all our private market funds operate in compliance with the regulatory requirements and agreed SLAs.

Tasks will include, but not be limited to the following:

Daily

  • General support to our overall Oversight Function

Monthly

  • Review fund expenses against budgets
  • Liaise with Risk & Valuation function to get confirmation of private asset valuations
  • Review & sign off monthly NAVs
  • Review & sign off fund expense payments
  • Attend delegate service calls

Ad Hoc

  • Review and opine on operational aspects of fund documentation when onboarding new funds.
  • Assist with operational set up of new funds.
  • Liaise with Fund Administrators
  • Oversee any capital call/distribution activity
  • Review financial statements
  • Review and sign off internal and external delegate SLAs/KPIs
  • Provide subject matter expertise to any RFPs and due diligence
  • Oversee Assessment of Value process for qualifying funds

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration and NAV process of all UK private markets funds
  • Ensure that processes of reconciliation are followed, ensuring exceptions are monitored throughout to the completion.
  • Gather MI required by the Firm's Funds' Oversight Committee.
  • Identify and report any operational and enterprise risks in relation to the firm's activities.
  • Ensure appropriate controls and/or mitigation plans are in place on managing any operational risks.
  • Advise the line manager of any areas of concern and issues that could arise.
  • Demonstrate the Business Principles consistently (Integrity, Client, People and Excellence)
