Senior/Associate Structural Engineer

This is a hybrid role - 3 days in the London office a week

To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Building and Real Estate Division. SOCOTEC's Engineering and Safety teams provide an award-winning, flexible and forward-thinking approach, as well as a high level of technical capability, providing our clients with cost-effective and practical solutions for the full range of Engineering problems. We're looking for a proactive, flexible, and reliable Associate Director - Structural Engineering to join our London office, with experience in a similar role and who possesses a recognised structural engineering qualification. Working across a variety of projects both autonomously and as part of a wider team, tasks you will be required to undertake as part of your role include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain and manage strong client relationships and identify business development opportunities and prepare / review fee proposal letters
  • To liaise with clients, manage projects from inception to completion, including invoicing
  • Attend site regularly to undertake site inspections and investigations
  • Support management of junior team of engineers and carry out reviews
  • Work within the agreed project timeframe and budget
  • Be aware of the financial performance of the business unit and take responsibility for meeting targets
  • Provide continuous high quality structural engineering services to our customers, including but not limited to:
      • Develop structural strategies, design and associated mark-ups for various buildings and infrastructure projects
      • Provide advisory support and carry out site visits during construction stage and building investigations
      • Prepare assessment, inspection and investigations reports
  • Have a clear understanding of Structural engineering issues, (including interfaces with fire and façade), and provide well supported engineering solutions through the selection of appropriate methods and tools
  • Be familiar with all relevant legislation and ensure that procedures are updated accordingly
  • Manage projects from inception to completion and be responsible for the associated invoicing

Qualifications & Accreditation:

  • An accredited honours degree or equivalent in civil/structural engineering.
  • Chartered or near chartered with the Institution of Civil and/or Structural Engineers

Competencies:

  • At least six years' experience in engineering
  • To be passionate about structural engineering
  • Confident communicator, good customer service skills
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritise and work on own initiative, as well as following instructions and working as part of a team
  • Numerate, and organised with attention to detail
  • Professional appearance and behaviour
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet customer needs and changing priorities
  • Reliable, punctual, honest and trustworthy
