Senior Associate, Professional Liability

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Kennedys is looking for a Senior Associate to join our leading Professional Liability Team in London where you will have the opportunity to work with some of the most experienced and respected professional liability practitioners in the market.

We are interested in speaking to candidates with Professional Indemnity experience, or Commercial Litigation experience. If you are interested in working in a supportive environment with ambitious colleagues we would love to hear from you.

Team

Kennedys' Professional Liability Team deals with all areas of professional liability and handles claims of all sizes and complexity. We comprise approximately 40 fee earners in London. Our team also operates from regional centres of excellence in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol.

The Gracechurch report describes Kennedys as the market leader in the London insurance market and ranked first for overall client service quality. We have also been ranked as market leader across all 14 individual service attributes, performing particularly strongly on international coverage, strong teams and insurance expertise.
Clients

Our clients include all major insurers in the professional indemnity market, professional services firms (both in England and overseas) and mutual insurers underwriting risk in specific market sectors. We are currently handling some of the largest claims in the market against solicitors and barristers, and also act for insurance brokers, accountants, financial professionals, IT professionals, property professionals and many others.
Cases

We are handling multiple cases where the sums in dispute are in excess of £200m. Cases handled in London are invariably complex, involve multiple parties and engage numerous stakeholders including the professional services firm itself, primary insurers and excess layers.

Allied with our defence practice is our coverage practice. We are presently instructed by insurers in respect of some of the most difficult coverage issues arising out of professional indemnity policies including aggregation, attachment and rights of repudiation and avoidance.

Required experience

  • 5+ years' UK Qualified Solicitor or CILEX qualified with the relevant experience*
  • Familiar with professional indemnity policies and coverage issues, or alternatively experience within Commercial Litigation.
  • Experience of assisting on large cases in a team environment
  • Previous client contact and attendance at business development events

Please let us know if you require any additional support or adjustments to be made in order to submit your application to Kennedys.

* where a level of experience is indicated, this is a guideline only and represents the amount of time we would usually expect a candidate to accumulate the requisite level of experience. This does not preclude applications from candidates with more or less experience.
