Responsibilities
Our Housing team are looking for a full time Senior Associate to join their Birmingham office in the Home Ownership Team. The successful candidate will be part of a busy team delivering a high quality legal service in respect of the sale of shared ownership and outright sales and after sales transaction on behalf of Housing Associations, developers and other providers. The candidate will also have the opportunity to get involved in a varied blend of real estate work. Responsible for undertaking fee-earning work, providing a profitable contribution to the work of the team and taking an active role in the future growth of the team.
The role offers excellent quality work in a collegiate and supportive environment and candidates should be committed to developing their technical skills with the support of active mentoring from colleagues and the firm's Knowledge team to service clients and develop their own careers as well as to mentoring and supporting the development of more junior members of the team. Responsbibilties include:
- To support all aspects of Home Ownership Transactions including newbuild sales (both outright and shared ownership), set-ups and after sale transactions (including RTB/RTA, lease extensions, auction and other private treaty disposals and other supporting related real estate work including deeds of variation etc)
- Ensure compliance with professional duties and the firm's internal procedures
- Active participation in business development initiatives
- To demonstrate required knowledge and keep up to date with developments in the law
- To manage the billing process and to achieve income targets
- Participate in firm wide and team specific training sessions
The firm operates a hybrid agile working policy allowing employees to work from home (or another UK location) for at least 50% of their time. Individuals can also apply for other flexible working options either at the time of recruitment or during the course of their employment.
Essential & Desirable Criteria
- The candidate will be a solicitor or qualified via CILEx. or Council for Licensed Conveyancers
- Strong knowledge of working with housing associations in the delivery of affordable home ownership products and other associated real estate work. Some knowledge of working with other providers including investors and developers desirable but not essential.Some experience of site set ups for new developments desirable but not essential
- A desire to support and lead the continued growth of the home ownership team
- Good communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to develop strong relationships with clients and others in the sector
- A professional approach to work to ensure deadlines are met
- The ability to support the team's work and a good track record of supervising and managing other team members
- A good track record of business development and management of a busy caseload
- To be able to keep calm under pressure. To work well on a wide range of tasks simultaneously and be able to organise work accordingly.
- To be able to work well in a team and understand others' importance to that team. To support senior and other team members.
