Are you ready to take the helm of one of Islington Council's most critical health and safety operations? As Senior Asbestos Surveyor, you'll be more than a technical lead-you'll be a strategic force driving compliance, innovation, and protection across the borough's diverse built environment. Your remit covers all council-owned and managed properties, including housing stock and corporate facilities. From Victorian terraces to modern civic offices, you'll ensure these spaces meet the highest standards of asbestos safety. You'll lead and inspire a specialist team of surveyors and contractors, cultivating expertise, fostering collaboration and delivering a gold-standard service.

Your mission?To transform how we manage asbestos across Islington. You'll drive proactive strategies, oversee inspections and remediation works, develop training programmes, and influence policies that reach beyond your team into every department. Working closely with the Contracts and Compliance Manager, you'll be a visible and trusted figure both internally and externally-liaising with the HSE, the Environment Agency and Council partners. You'll help guide housing teams, estates management and senior stakeholders on best practice while staying ahead of legislative changes and operational challenges.

From designing corporate policy frameworks and auditing systems, to responding swiftly to emergencies and leading post-incident investigations-you'll bring technical precision and inspirational leadership to every facet of the role. You'll harness digital platforms like CAFM and Microsoft 365 to deliver real-time data and reporting that supports transparency and decision-making.

This is a role for a seasoned professional, confident in their knowledge of asbestos surveying, legislation and risk management, and driven to lead with purpose. You'll manage budgets, set targets, and drive performance with agility and insight-ensuring that every inspection, report and strategy reflects the Council's commitment to a safer, fairer Islington.
