Job Description

Senior Art Designer

As a Senior Art Designer, you will be hands-on in designing high-quality game concepts, layouts, and assets for our slot and casino games, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and prioritise work, solve creative challenges, and deliver outstanding player experiences. In this role, you will be integral to the creation of game elements that captivate users, such as game symbols, backgrounds, and themed visual styles. Reporting to the Head of Studio, you will be a key part of the Art Design team, working closely with both our UK and offshore teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create design concepts & layouts based on project knowledge, focusing on slot game-specific assets like symbols, backgrounds, and thematic game styles that visually engage and immerse players in the gaming experience.
• Provide creative leadership and guidance to other studio artists, supporting everyday creative needs and ensuring the delivery of high-quality visual content aligned with the company's brand and user experience goals. This includes mentoring more junior designers by enhancing their craft and promoting best practices, rather than managing their daily tasks.
• Define and communicate design principles, style guides, and visual standards specific to slot games, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic that aligns with brand values and resonates with players.
• Create a wide range of visually compelling assets, including game visuals (symbols, animations, backgrounds), user interfaces, and creating a unified look and feel across all game components.
• Ensure all visual content is aesthetically pleasing, user-centred, and aligned with brand values, optimising for player engagement and retention within the context of slot gaming.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams - including game developers, animators, and sound designers - to understand project requirements and provide innovative, gameplay-enhancing design solutions that meet both creative and business objectives.
• Review and approve visual assets created by the art team, ensuring they meet design principles, brand guidelines, and specific project goals; provide constructive feedback to maintain the highest standards of visual quality.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, particularly within the gaming and slot game sectors, and explore emerging design technologies to drive continuous improvement in visual design and player engagement.
• Manage multiple design projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery, resource allocation, and design excellence across different phases of game development.
• Collaborate closely with other designers, artists, and cross-functional teams to foster a collaborative and creative environment that supports cross-discipline teamwork within the gaming studio.
• Mentor more junior designers, providing guidance and support for their professional growth, focusing on developing their technical and creative skills to meet the demands of slot game design.

Qualifications

Key Skills:

• The ability to collaborate, working together in a coordinated and cooperative manner to achieve a common goal or complete a shared task.
• Well-versed in User Experience Design, the strategic process of creating user-centered interfaces, emphasizing usability, accessibility, and emotional connection to deliver positive interactions that meet user needs and business goals.
• Experienced in User Interface Design, builds interfaces in software or computerised devices, focusing on looks or style.
• Expert in Visual Design, uses imagery, colour, shapes, typography, and form to enhance usability and improve the user experience.
• A good communicator, the ability to share or understand information, ideas and feelings successfully.
• Well-versed in Content Marketing, creates, publishes, and distributes content for a targeted audience online.
• Well versed in managing projects, planning, organising, and overseeing tasks, resources, and timelines to achieve specific objectives and deliver successful outcomes within a defined scope.
• Master in Artisitc Expertise, an understanding of design principles, including layout, color theory, typography, and compositions.
• Highly creative, the ability to invent and develop original ideas
• Highly experienced in Market Research, gathering, analysing, and interpreting information about a target market to inform business decisions.
• Advanced understanding of Ethical Considerations related to gambling and gaming products and their potential impact on users.
