Senior Archiect
This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.
HTA Design LLP is an award winning multi-disciplinary design partnership of specialist teams working collaboratively in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Interior Design, Sustainability, Planning and Communication Design.
We're seeking a design-led Senior Architect with strong technical expertise to lead the day-to-day delivery of medium to large-scale residential and mixed-use projects. The role will focus predominantly on international housing projects initially in Sydney and potentially Brisbane with scope to expand to other Australian regions and locations. You will work closely with a Project Leader and coordinate regularly with HTA's Sydney studio, clients and collaborators in very different time zones, so a flexible approach to working hours is essential. Over the longer term the role may include occasional international travel (e.g., Australia project visits; manufacturing plants in China, Malaysia or South Korea), though not initially.
What you will do:
- Lead and run projects across RIBA stages, managing teams day-to-day (job running) and coordinating multidisciplinary consultants and client liaison.
- Plan and manage programme, resources, risks, budgets and change control; oversee fees and financial performance.
- Champion BIM/Revit excellence, technical quality and documentation standards (including specifications).
- Drive high-quality design and buildable technical solutions; support compliance in UK and international contexts with local partners.
- Mentor and coach team members, fostering inclusive, collaborative and hybrid/remote ways of working.
- Confidently present to clients and larger stakeholder groups; contribute to bids, fee proposals and winning work.
- Coordinate across time zones with regular meetings involving HTA Sydney and international clients; adjust working hours when required.
- Support occasional international travel longer term (not anticipated initially).
The successful candidate will have/be:
- ARB registered; typically 5-10+ years post-Part 3 on UK residential/mixed-use projects across RIBA stages. International experience (especially Australia) is an advantage.
- Excellent design capability with strong technical knowledge and detailing; deep understanding of UK & Australia regulations/standards and typical delivery routes.
- Strong Revit and BIM coordination and documentation skills; proficient in SketchUp, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite/Affinity; familiarity with ISO 19650 desirable.
- Experience of MMC is advantageous; exposure to volumetric modular is a plus (not essential). Passion for housing and interest in innovative forms of construction is a considerable benefit.
- A proven track record delivering complex projects and leading teams; strong resource planning and financial management.
- Client-focused and calm under pressure; strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills; able to create and deliver compelling presentations to clients and large stakeholder groups.
- Comfortable coordinating across time zones and flexing working hours; inclusive leadership and mentoring experience.
