Senior Applied Scientist, EU Ops Concessions

The EU Ops Concessions team is looking for a motivated, creative and customer obsessed Snr. Applied Scientist with a strong machine learning background, to develop advanced analytics models (Computer Vision, LLMs, etc.) that improve customer experiences.

We are the voice of the customer in Amazon's operations, and we take that role very seriously. Key job responsibilities
You will work with Operations stakeholders to develop models and analysis to drive down the negative impact of operations on Amazon customers' experiences.

Ideal candidate will be a high potential, strategic and analytic graduate with a PhD in (Operations Research, Statistics, Engineering, and Supply Chain) ready for challenging opportunities in the core of our world class operations space. Great candidates have a history of research, and the ability to use data and research to make changes.

This role requires robust program management skills and research science skills in order to act on research outcomes. This individual will need to be able to work with a team, but also be comfortable making decisions independently, in what is often times an ambiguous environment.

Your role will be to:
- Develop innovative algorithms to identify operational defects using advanced analytics techniques
- Engage with cross-disciplinary stakeholders to conceive and design effective models to address business challenges
- Communicate with various internal stakeholders and external audiences

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- PhD
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
- Experience in building machine learning models for business application
- Experience in Computer Vision modelling and techniques

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.
