Job description
Permanent, Full Time
Permanent, Part Time working 3 days per week (22 hours and 12 minutes, Wednesday to Friday)

Location: Based at City Hall, Hybrid Working. This position is open to office and/or home working. When service needs arise you will be expected to work in City Hall as required.

We are looking for two experienced application support officers (one full and one part time) to join us at a busy but exciting time for our team. This is an outstanding opportunity for the right candidates to shape the future of how we deliver Housing Services to our customers as we are in the process of implementing a new housing management system.

In the short term, you will be mainly focused on delivering work packages associated with the implementation project (for example configuration and data extraction /loading). In the medium to long term, you be involved in the 'Business as Usual' activities maintaining the new system but will also be implementing phase 2 modules along with other system enhancements.

The Housing Application Support Team provides support and administration across a variety of systems supporting housing functions such as housing management (estates and income management), repairs and housing options as well as other functions such as licencing.

You will be expected to manage and monitor the performance of the relevant systems and work with services users to implement enhancements. Additionally, you will be required to resolve any issues that are raised through the helpdesk and deal efficiently with work requests that come from service users. This is a senior post, and you will be expected to directly manage the work of application supports officers on the team.

During the next 12 months, you will be involved in the design, build and testing of a new integrated housing management system which makes this a particularly exciting time to join the team. You may also be involved in writing data extraction scripts and creating loaders to move data from legacy systems into the new system. To fully support the design and build of the new system, knowledge of Housing is important as is the ability to lead on work packages. A working knowledge of SQL is needed as this will be used in both data extraction and for report writing in the future.

If you are experienced in Application Support, committed to the provision of local government services, especially Housing and want to shape a new system and support that system in the future, this may be the opportunity for you.

Note that some out of hours working is required for these posts.
