Senior Analytics Engineer - User Platform Insights

We are a newly formed insights team that acts across 3 studios within Platform. The domains we work with are employee and end user Identity and Access Management (IAM), internal collaboration tools and security. As a member of the team, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams of skilled engineers, data scientists, user researchers, designers, and product managers who are all passionate about crafting scalable products for our developers and customers. You'll help build high quality, analysis ready datasets to power insights.

What You'll Do

    • Lead long-term internal initiatives on topics such as data infrastructure, data quality, data-informed decision making, new ways of working, technical health, and more
    • Engage with senior leadership and promote data driven development practices. Work closely together with engineering teams to ensure high data literacy
    • Guide engineering teams in developing data models that tie together disparate data and assist with building an ecosystem of analysis-friendly datasets that empower research and analytics
    • Design, implement and maintain high quality datasets and data pipelines in Python, and SQL on BigQuery and GCS
    • Collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists and team leads across the mission to design and promote shared methodologies to take data-informed decisions across R&D

Who You Are

    • You have 5+ years of experience in the development of data products (using Python and SQL)
    • You have a track record of taking open-ended analytics goals and translating them into production-quality datasets
    • You are comfortable stepping through ETL processes and tracing data flows through complex DAGs
    • You are knowledgeable in data modelling, data access and data storage techniques.
    • You have strong proficiency using SQL in cloud data warehouses (e.g. BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake) and are comfortable with performance optimization, data partitioning, and window functions
    • You are a communicative person who values building positive relationships with colleagues and partners and enjoys mentoring and teaching others
    • You are able to operate effectively and autonomously across multiple teams in situations of ambiguity, with only high-level direction
    • Experience with GCP tooling is a plus
    • Experience with dbt is a plus
    • Experience with scala is a plus
