For our Illicit Trade Prevention's (ITP) team, based in London, we are currently looking for a Senior Analyst ITP Forensics
This role holder will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in tobacco products and Smoke Free Products (SFP) (incl. Illicit products) forensics and fulfill PMI's legal and court requirements as Intellectual Property (IP) right holder. While contributing to the development of innovative methodologies, features and tools to protect and authenticate PMI products, generating product intelligence on illicit products to support ITP strategies and activities, and law enforcement investigations and litigation actions.
Key accountabilities:
- Product authentication: perform PMI products authentication within a timely and satisfactory manner, for both our combustible (CC) and smoke free (SFP) category.
- Product Intelligence:
- perform product analyses, from Empty Pack Surveys' samples to investigations and evidence materials, as well as from consumer complaints, test purchases, SFP device returns, in-market sampling, SFP recycling hubs, etc.
- Product Forensics and Investigative support: perform forensics evaluation of samples of potentially illicit tobacco products stemming from various sources.
- Organize and perform onsite inspections of raided illegal factories (manufacturing premises), aiming to support authorities in the fight against illicit manufacturing of tobacco products (incl. CC and SFP).
- Trigger or support follow-up actions.
- Represent the company in various events, incl. witness hearings or other legal proceedings, acting as PMI's SME in product authentication and forensics.
- Perform enhanced profiling of illicit products ("grouping"), aiming to support ongoing investigations or provide product intelligence to internal and external partners.
- Product Security Features (PSF): use in practice PMI PSFs and verify their functionality, providing factual and constructive feedback on their presence and effectiveness to the supervisors or personnel in charge.
- Supplier Liaison Program (SLP): support or contribute to the process by collecting information, gathering evidence and materials as part of ongoing forensics activities (e.g., factory raids follow-ups, company checks etc.).
- SFP:
- Actively contribute to protecting the consumer journey and the fast-evolving product lifecycle and distribution models, by analyzing samples stemming from manufacturing through distribution to sales, and its reverse logistics (returns and recycling).
- Provide SME expertise for the new products in PMI's portfolio, incl. launches and markets resulting from PMI business agreements, mergers or acquisitions.
- Supply Chain Integrity: actively support and contribute to the process of fulfillment of PMI regulatory or internal obligations included in PMI's Anti-Diversion programs. By responding to external and internal partners requests for technical expertise and product forensics,
- Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) through technical assistance:
- deliver, support and / or assist in technical training program deliverables to law enforcement authorities aiming at building their capability in tackling illicit trade.
- Support building the "external engagement corridors" for further follow-up actions.
- Industry Technical Alliance: contribute to process by ensuring the relevant technical information, samples and forensics info availability, when applicable.
- Forensics IT Systems: contribute to maintenance and continuous improvements process of ITP system(s) in place.
- 3rd party support personnel supervision: supervise and coordinate a potential pool of external vendors or service providers contracted for support in product authentication, inspections, and analyses (incl. EPS pack analysis).
We are looking for someone with;
- University (master or bachelor degree), preferably in Technical Sciences.
- Strong experience in the tobacco industry or other consumer goods industry, preferably in product forensics at the anti-counterfeit / anti-illicit trade department or similar.
- Know-how of technical examination techniques for products and forensics evaluation, incl. chemical and qualitative analysis methodologies and external laboratories' network.
- Knowledge of SFPs and vaping products, incl. electronics, SFP consumables and oral products category.
- Project Management - Certified project management skills, incl. international and cross-functional projects coordination and supervision.
- People Management - Supervision and daily coordination of the external vendors and subcontractors / external inspectors.
