About the Role:

The role of the Senior Analyst - Instrumentation, is to carry out analysis on samples submitted for GC and GC-MS, keeping the GC log up to date, maintain instruments in good working order and arrange engineer service visits/calibrations, order instrument consumables, identify potential new instruments for QC, ensure new instrumentation is qualified, and to maintain data integrity. They are also responsible for keeping the instrumentation records on LIMS up to date.

  • To carry out any other work as may be reasonably requested.
  • To work in an efficient, effective and safe manner towards the performance targets of the team.
  • To ensure laboratory instrumentation is qualified, serviced, maintained, calibrated and available for use as required by the QC department.
  • To analyse samples submitted for GC analysis.
  • To analyse samples submitted for GCMS analysis.
  • To assist with the development of HPLC and GC methods for raw materials and manufactured products as required.
  • To ensure documentation relevant to laboratory instrumentation is kept up to date.
  • Safety and responsibility towards the environment is an integral part of all activities at Thornton and Ross. This will be a key consideration in the development of the factory, equipment purchases, improvement work and training.
  • Ensure activities and changes to equipment and working practices are made in line with guidelines laid out in the 'Orange Guide'.
  • Ensure all improvement opportunities are in line with ISO standards. Ensure all manufacturing operations are defined and documented to ensure optimum performance.
  • Work to an agreed program of priorities. Provide regular feedback and progress reports. Proactively manage resources to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Experience of problem solving
