Location: hybrid (40% office-based in Sheffield, currently in Howden House)

The post

We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, highly motivated and reliable individual to join the Performance and Analysis Service (PAS) in Sheffield City Council. The focus of the post is to assist the Sheffield Community Youth Service in understanding the delivery and performance across the city and helping to provide evidence on the impact of work.

This will include reviewing the current data suite, meeting the service to agree reporting requirements and developing key performance indicators to support delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of children and young people in Sheffield.

This project will require a high level of analytical skills and an ability to present and communicate complex information to a variety of different audiences.

PAS works closely in partnership with different service teams in children's services, with ICT and corporate teams in SCC, as well as with external bodies such as schools and Health services. As a Senior Analyst in PAS, you will be part of an experienced, supportive team that works together to provide high quality data and analysis services to our clients.

About you

As a Senior Analyst, you will need to have:

  • An interest and enthusiasm for improving outcomes for children and young people in the city.
  • A willingness to work closely with our clients and partners - good communication skills.
  • Strong IT and analytical skills - including an understanding of how information flows through databases and how to extract data and create automated reports.
  • An ability to translate customer requirements into workable reporting tools.
  • Basic understanding of the benefits/limitations of data and of statistical analysis.
  • An ability to analyse, interpret and present data.
  • A flare for creativity and problem solving.
  • An ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge or experience of working with specific children's services data is desirable but not essential.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
