About the Role
The Manchester Centre is a vibrant creative hub with a growing learner population from a wide variety of backgrounds and needs. To continue the development of a comprehensive and supportive learning environment we are looking to appoint a Senior ALS Tutor, whose role will be to help lead the delivery of an outstanding student experience for our learners with additional support needs.
You will be a key member of the centre's learner support team and take responsibility for safeguarding, academic learning support and the management of the day-to-day running of the additional learning support room.
You will ensure that all learners are made aware of the learning support offered and take the lead in the SEND review process of prospective learners. You will contribute to EHCP annual review meetings and monitor the progress of learners with SEND. You will support the induction of learners and staff through the delivery of training in the learning support processes. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to coordinate the gathering of evidence for EAAs.
The successful candidate will ideally have thorough FE knowledge; funding frameworks, curriculum and sector developments and government policies and priorities and an understanding of JCQ rules for conducting GCSE examinations You will have successful experience in coordinating a team of staff and in managing At Risk learners.
You will work with experienced, passionate tutors as well as within a support service provided by our Central Team. Working at Access Creative College means working with learners who are engaged, enthusiastic and passionate about the education they are gaining.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills which will help you to effectively implement and manage the support timetable and ensure the delivery of high-quality ALS, with contact hours for 1 to 1, small group and MHWB support, as well as helping to manage the ALS budget, in collaboration with the Assistant Head of Student Support, Maths and English, all whilst making it look effortless!
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related subject area and maths and English qualifications at level 2 or above. A teaching qualification is desirable but if you don't have one, we will pay for you to get one and provide you with time to study!
