The Senior Airfield Officer - Transport & Services (SAO-T) is responsible for planning, co-ordinating and supervising the delivery of a range of activities across the airfield, which ensure a safe and efficient operating environment for aircraft and personnel in accordance with EASA certification requirements and Heathrow Airport standards. The SAO-T will focus upon delivering activities to a high standard which improve airfield housekeeping, apron safety and airfield habitat quality, as well as activities which support asset management and engineering objectives, such as drainage maintenance, runway friction and AGL cleanliness.

  • Ensuring the plan is completed to the required quality, including (but not limited to) housekeeping activities (including apron safety and cleanliness activities, FOD reduction tasks, grassland management programme), vehicle fleet maintenance, incident management/reporting, and audits as required from time to time.
  • Ensuring that other ad-hoc transport or service activities (such as airfield tours, commercial work, supporting capital projects or other departments) are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Providing oversight of the Airfield Operations vehicle fleet to ensure that vehicle standards are maintained; provide support to Heathrow's contracted fleet partner to ensure that vehicle defects are tracked to completion.
  • Line management (performance development, sickness & absence management, etc.) of colleagues, including mentoring and training where required.

Qualifications

  • Currently holds a full UK driving licence.
  • Good communication skills - verbal and written, including the ability to write detailed reports.
  • A collaborative, positive outlook; a desire to continuously improve safety and efficient operations. A "don't walk by" attitude is essential.
  • Leadership experience of supervising a diverse team.

Ideally, you'll also have:
