What we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced senior economist with 7+ years of experience to lead delivery and support in the winning of economics projects across EMEA. This role will be a project manager and technical lead for high profile economics and business case projects primarily in the UK but also supporting projects in the Middle East. We are looking for an economist with strong fundamentals, a good understanding of the HMT Green Book and experience of delivering economic analysis for public sector clients in the UK. This role requires a self-starter able to work independently across our business and find the opportunities to grow the economics and business case pipeline through both internal and external business development activity.

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Leading economics projects as the Project Manager, including managing a project team and reviewing team members work, accountable to the Project Director.
  • Provide economic and business case advice to our clients, supporting complex problem solving.
  • Provide technical support and direction on projects as required.
  • Provide technical support and direction on tenders/bids or proactive client proposals.
  • Work collaboratively with other GHD staff and our clients, sharing information, ideas, and knowledge.
  • Managing your personal contribution to the team, including providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff.
  • Supporting the vision and strategic plan for GHD Advisory. This includes GHD Advisory's market presence, prominence, and market share.
  • Pursuing professional development opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • The ability to lead on designing economic appraisal methodologies based on HMT Green Book guidance for clients.
  • Have experience and a successful track record of delivering economic and business case advice within a management consultancy, infrastructure owner, regulator, operator, or public sector.
  • Expertise in some/all of the following: Cost Benefit Analysis, Whole Life Cost analysis, writing Business Cases based on the 5 case model, developing and QA-ing high quality excel models, developing Theories of Change, running stakeholder engagement.
  • Degree qualification. Post graduate degree would be an advantage.
  • Strong client service focus, generating repeat business through excellent project delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) that enable productive engagement and sustainable collaboration with colleagues and clients.
