Job summary
We are looking for an exceptional, highly motivated, innovative individual to join our team of ANNPs at our tertiary level medical NICU in St. Peters Hospital, Surrey. This is a full time training post, which involves completing an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice at the University of Southampton.
Following this 1 year course, the candidate will work 75% on the medical rota and 25% in a nursing management capacity. This is an opportunity for career development from Band 7 to Band 8a following adequate consolidation. The post holder will be mentored and initially shadowed by an experienced ANNP and/or senior medical staff, progressively working towards becoming an autonomous practitioner, prioritising own workload and being accountable for the direct delivery of care. They will also be part of the Band 7 team, providing clinical leadership to the unit.

Our team are regular contributors to national and international meetings as well as network and national working groups from CRG, BAPM to NICE. We work closely with our colleagues in maternity including in the MatNeo QI programmes of work, and our clinical governance and safety work is of high quality. Main duties of the job
The ANNP role encompasses that of educator, expert clinician, consultant, auditor, researcher and developer. In collaboration with the senior nurse neonatal services and Consultant Neonatologist the advanced neonatal nurse practitioner will:
Have specialist knowledge of neonates across a range of clinical issues, underpinned by the theory and practice acquired through an ANNP education programme at masters level.
Provide expert clinical care and management of the neonate and his/her family, making complex autonomous decisions utilising expert practice.
Have responsibility for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, to deliver optimal medical and nursing care.
Will be expected to work across role boundaries, providing comprehensive holistic care sensitive to the needs of babies and families accessing neonatal services in the network.
Act as a role model and provide leadership, clinical support and expert advice to junior medical, nursing/midwifery staff and students.
Participate in the provision of specialist education and training programmes for health care professionals and other professional groups dealing with neonates across the network.
Be responsible for a designated group of nurses within the NICU to identify their educational and training requirements via appraisal, clinical supervision and personal development plans.
