Supervise a team of administrative staff including undertaking appraisals,
supervision, training and development and Band 3 and Band 2 staff.

Provide information and support to managers on the performance and conduct of members of staff and support with all informal and formal processes.

Allocate and supervise administration tasks delegated to other members of the administration team.

Maintain annual leave records for the team, liaising with line manager and other managers to ensure appropriate and continuing cover.

Support managers with the recruitment process and ensure that newly appointed staff under their local and Trust inductions.

Be responsible for organising and controlling own and others workload ensuring deadlines are observed and duties performed efficiently.

Work with Line Manager to lead on the introduction and proactive management of any new processes and initiatives.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • GCSE grade A - C in English
  • High standard of written English

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of training in leadership and management skills

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of staff supervision and management
  • Organising, attending and taking minutes/notes at senior level meetings

Desirable criteria

  • Secretarial/administrative experience in the NHS within clinical and/or corporate services.
  • Experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive data and appropriate maintenance and storage of records
  • Previous experience of NHS clinical and corporate governance processes and statutory frameworks

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adopt appropriately both verbally and written including IT literacy (MS office and webbased)
  • Confident nature with a proactive and constructive approach
  • Demonstrate a positive approach towards change and ability to lead staff

Desirable criteria

  • Understanding of HR policies and procedures

Knowledge & Understanding

Essential criteria

  • Clear understanding of respect and confidentiality and be able to challenge unacceptable behaviour.
