A Senior Accountant is required to join the Booking.com Transport Ltd Financial Accounting & Reporting team in Manchester. Supporting the delivery of accurate & complete financial reporting requirements for the transport division of the business

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for reconciling accounts, post journal entries, and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules so that the organization has a full and accurate statement of its financial position
  • Leading on Management Accounts, P&L, intercompany, control accounts & balance sheet reconciliations. Focusing on continuous improvement and the finance initiative of taking us from good to great.
  • Ownership of complex accounts, e.g. revenue, cost of sales, GRNI, accruals, prepayment, payroll- and intercompany transactions
  • Be responsible for the monthly (quarterly, annual) closing processes of the ledger, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, prepayment, payroll & intercompany transactions, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, detailed supporting analysis and relevant documentation, balance sheets and perform profit and loss review
  • Investigating and commenting on key variances between budgeted and actual performance, proposing corrective action as appropriate
  • Support internal & external audits and inquiries
  • Proactively support in covering all compliance requirements, i.e. Sox, tax, statutory and statistical filings and audits, highlight issues and recommend process improvements where possible
  • Establish close working relations with the wider finance teams and global brands to resolve issues or establish new processes as required. Including liaison with the Technical Accounting team as necessary to ensure appropriate accounting entries are used.

Skills and Experience

  • Qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or ACA
  • Minimum 2 years post qualified experience in a management accounts background
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, flexible and capable of working independently as well as working in a team
  • Excellent Excel Skills
  • Previous month end reporting experience
  • Prior experience in a large organisation/group
  • Analytical background, ideally working in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to multi-task & flexible attitude
  • Working to strict deadlines
  • Good communication and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Solution oriented and result driven
  • Experience with SAP is desirable but not essential
