Job Description

Base salary: £54878 pa to £64562 pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

The Senior Cost Assurance manager oversees and supports the application of LoD1 Cost Assurance across delivery. This role holds HS2 commercial teams and Po6 CV auditors to account for their performance and decision[1]making. This role ensures findings, issues and risks are dealt with in a compliant and defendable way and provides confidence that HS2 is not overpaying contractors within the terms of the contracts. This role monitors and reports on the robustness of LoD0 (Tier 1) and LoD1 Cost Assurance in practice and recommends actions for improving controls to ensure that Cost Assurance is being applied in a risk-based intelligent manner.

About the role:

  • Lead the coordination and planning of CVA activity across delivery areas in conjunction with Po6 and HS2 Commercial teams.
  • Manage and chair Cost Assurance performance reviews to drive progress and to ensure CVA findings and related issues and risks are being dealt with in a compliant, defendable and auditable way.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to HS2 delivery teams in the development of their LoD1 ACA plans and the practical application of the Cost Assurance strategy and controls.
  • Monitor and report on the overall health of LoD0 and LoD1 Cost Assurance across delivery
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and lesson learning across contracts and delivery areas to inform enhanced and consistent application of Cost Assurance in delivery.

About you:

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Experience in commercial/financial roles with a strong understanding of NEC contracts and supply-chain management.
  • An ability to manage, influence and maintain strong collaborative relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Analyse and interpret complex financial and commercial information from different sources to support and challenge commercial decision-making.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and understandable way to a range of audiences.
  • Experience of delivering risk-based assurance and governance across major projects
