Job overview

South East London has a history of collaborative working amongst partner organisations and this approach was further developed in summer 2019 when South East London (SEL) was designated a Wave 3 Integrated Care System.

As part of the continued development of the SEL ICS, the three acute providers in SEL - Guys and St Thomas', Kings College Hospital and Lewisham and Greenwich - have chosen to work together more closely. In April 2020, the acute providers established the SEL Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) as the vehicle for their closer collaboration.

The purpose of the APC is to strengthen a system approach to addressing fundamental challenges faced by the acute providers, working together to develop solutions alongside other system partners. The APC reports into the Committee in Common of the three Trust Boards and to the ICS Leadership group, recognising that the collaborative is a key part of the wider SEL system. A number of clinical networks have been established or are in development within the Acute Provider Collaborative. These networks have clinical leadership and are focused on improving patient outcomes, making the most effective use of system capacity and recovering system performance.

The aim of APC Diagnostics Programme aims to secure diagnostic recovery across all three trusts through the development and implementation of transformational change in diagnostics, in line with national policy as well as local strategies and aspirations.

Main duties of the job

• Providing high-quality project management including project planning and administration, risk management, and reporting
• Managing and maintaining key programme documents to facilitate effective project management, using the full suite of Microsoft Office tools
• Co-ordinating, supporting and attending programme meetings and events as required, eg supporting forward agenda planning, co-ordinating papers and contributions, taking meeting minutes, managing and following up action
• Managing and maintaining high quality project and programme documentation, consistent with the overall approach of the PMO, eg programme/project plans, risks and issues log
• Working with colleagues to ensure effective programme and project reporting, including ensuring consistency with the overall approach of the SEL APC Diagnostics Programme, responding to other reporting requirements as necessary, eg national/regional returns
• Supporting the proactive management of key risks and issues ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or
• Supporting in the development of policies or standard operating procedures in relation to specialist area of work
• Develop and maintain excellent collaborative working relationships, fostering working in an integrated way across the three acute providers and with other stakeholder

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

While the core focus of this role will be on diagnostics, the wider APC programme encompasses a range of clinical networks and cross-cutting programmes. We aim to provide flexibility and opportunities for development within all our programme management roles and there will therefore be opportunities for the post-holder to be involved in other APC workstreams as part of their portfolio

The SEL ICS and all organisations within it are ultimately working towards the triple aim of "better health for everyone, better care for all patients and efficient use of NHS resources". The purpose of the SEL APC is to coordinate efforts across the three trusts in pursuit of the triple aim.

By co-ordinating efforts across the acute provider sector, the APC aims to:

• Supporting and working closely with operational and clinical teams within Trusts to ensure the delivery of project and overall APC programme objectives
• Supporting the development of short, medium and long term business
• Presenting project information and issues, explaining complexities, to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders Participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services and initiatives to provide, information and analytical advice and
• Supporting the development of good communication and information flows regarding the APC within the three acute providers
• Development of project training programmes for colleagues
• Operating effectively in a highly political and sensitive

Person specification

Education & Qualification

Essential criteria

• Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
• Qualification in Project Management or equivalent demonstrable relevant experience

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Demonstrated experience of managing and coordinating projects in complex and challenging environments
• Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes
• Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures.
