Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject
  • Working towards a VPR qualification or commitment to complete a VPR qualification

Desirable criteria

  • SIA Licence holder (CCTV)
  • Teaching qualification such as PGCE / Cert Ed or equivalent experience of delivering teaching, training

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable experience of leading successful Violence Prevention and Reduction initiatives at a senior level in an organisation of relevant scale and complexity
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of current technical requirement and legislation/guidance relevant to the post including Protect Duty

Training and Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working within the security or risk management field.
  • Experience of working within the NHS and a good understanding of its process and systems.
  • Ability to conduct technical/non-technical site security surveys.
  • Ability to conduct investigations in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.
  • Ability to produce investigation reports
  • A clear understanding of utilising data and data analysis to form projects and improvement plans

Desirable criteria

  • Member of an accredited Security Body/Association.
  • Police or security background

  • Communication and influencing skills
  • Prioritisation of workload, produce action points and meet targets.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information, and use judgement, tact and diplomacy in managing difficult issues.
  • Good presentation skills
  • Competent user of computer/office software suites
  • Standard driving license
  • Ability to work within and meet deadlines
  • Able to work proactively with a great degree of flexibility and adaptability.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement activities

  • Experience of working with Safeguard incident reporting system

Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
