Role mission
This new role joins our new Maison, 166 Bond Street, leading a team including an Assistant Security Manager and Security colleagues. The Security Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety of people (employees and clients), property and premises within the shop at all times, in compliance with legal regulations, defined procedures and Hermès values.
Our Security Manager will ensure that the security teams are always present during the Maisons opening hours to the public, as well as during one-off events and during periods when the Maison is not open to the public and internal or external personnel are required to ensure compliance with current legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Security duties
- Ensuring that the Maison opens and closes in optimum safety conditions
- Full ownership of the Bond St Maison and security of the premises and people
- Working under the policies and processes of the Group as well as recommendations from the Country Security Manager based in the HO Retail team
- Ensures access control and the Maisons immediate environment, with a deterrent presence
- Welcoming and assisting customers whilst ensuring their safety, assigning staff to strategic locations and according to the flow of customers, helping to manage queues
- Participate in the improvement/evolution of internal procedures aimed at preventing and/or reducing the risk of theft
- Assist with security audits, risk assessments and emergency response planning.
- Monitor surveillance systems and ensure we are using security technology effectively.
- Collaborate with the store management team, law enforcement and emergency services where required.
- Investigate security incidents and prepare reports ensuring that we are implementing any corrective actions and methods for prevention where possible.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of potential security threats, industry standards and best practices and ensure these are communicated to the wider team
- Ensuring that product security tools are in place and altering staff if they are not
- Ensure compliance with legislation and the application of internal procedures, protect the image of the house, and ensure the safety of his/her own team in all his/her actions: intervention in the event of theft or physical assault, use of camera
- Ensure all emergency procedures are operational and effective
- Supporting with issues related to fobs
Team Management
- Managing the team on a day-to-day basis
- Participate in the vetting of external security guards
- Ensuring the integration and training of each new recruit
- Conducting annual interviews, participating in remuneration reviews and developing professionalism
- Planning the presence of staff and adjusting the schedule in conjunction with the Maison Directors and Management, depending on activity
- Report to Maison management on development needs, problems and areas for improvement
- Planning the presence of supervisors and adjusting the schedule in liaison with the Maison Director, Deputy Directors & Store Management
- Promote and ensure compliance with internal rules and procedures
Communication
- Develops and maintains good relations with local authorities and within relevant security networks.
- Maintains regular contact with the other Hermes GB stores, in liaison with Head Office Security Manager
Management & Communication
- Mastering and applying legislation
- Completing security reports in a timely manner
- Responsible for the management and maintenance of the stores video surveillance. In collaboration with general services, ensure that the cameras are in good working order at all time
- Ensuring the regulatory documents are completed and followed up
- Facilitating the intervention of external emergency and security services
- Ensuring the compliance with applicable standards and monitoring compliance where necessary
- Carry out a month survey of thefts identified in each sales area and submit analysis to the Maison's senior leadership team

About you
- Significant experience as a Security Manager in a similar role within a relevant industry sector
- Strong knowledge of security protocols, risk management and crisis response
- Leadership skills with the ability develop and motivate team, ability to hold 121's, performance reviews and development conversations as well as providing feedback
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge of remote surveillance tools, methods and rules
- Strong knowledge of recent legislation and compliance information and able to impart knowledge to the team
- Familiar working with different security technology, CCTV and access control systems.
- Knowledge and application of safety regulations to and security procedures in a luxury environment
- Experience compiling reports and sharing with relevant stakeholders
- Able to be reactive when handling security situations and act with professionalism, discretion and composure
- Ability to manage disputes in a world of excellence
- Encourages teamwork and collaborative working
- Proactive and able to mitigate risks
- Ability to handle emergency situations while keeping a strong sense of customer service and work well in a high-pressure environment
- IOSH Certification desirable
- Flexible to respond to out of hours incidents
