Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Mental Health Nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our team as Security Liaison Manager. The successful candidate will have an eye for detail, and a creative approach to solving problems and working as part of a senior team.
The Security Liaison Manager is responsible for developing collaborative links between the Security Directorate, multi-disciplinary teams and other hospital and external services, in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors at Broadmoor Hospital. The Security Liaison Manager also manages a team of Security Liaison Nurses, postal monitors and Security intelligence officers working within Broadmoor Hospital that interface between security and the clinical environments.
Main duties of the job
To provide collaborative and supporting links between security and other services, in particular clinical services, in order to help provide a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.
The Successful candidate will be required to utilise their skills as Registered Mental Health Nurse and Managerial / leadership skills to provide advice, guidance and training on aspects of physical, procedural and relational security to clinical teams and staff throughout the hospital. The post holder is also responsible for working with current security teams to ensure that security standards are achieved and for ensuring that clinical and security practice are effectively integrated.
Applicants must have the ability to contribute to and influence service development and possess excellent communication, investigatory, auditing and analytical skills. An excellent working knowledge of the High Security Psychiatric Services (Arrangements for Safety and Security) Directions 2019, the National Clinical Security Framework, security policies and procedures is also essential.
It is part of the Security Liaison Managers role to complete investigations, audits and provide reports with recommendations to reduce/eliminate security risks and ensuring that any resulting actions are implemented.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse Mental Health
Desirable criteria
- Management and/or security professional qualification at degree level

Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience of working at a senior management level in a secure NHS forensic setting or other relevant security related service
- Experience of undertaking investigations
Desirable criteria
- Experience of organising and delivering specialist training to groups of staff
- Experience of project management/security work
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Up to date knowledge of physical, procedural and relational security requirements within a High Security Hospital.
- Specialist knowledge of security and/or clinical practice gained over 3 - 5 years.
- A thorough understanding of the Mental Health Act and an up to date knowledge of current trends in mental health.
- A thorough understanding of the security needs of patients with criminal or violent propensities within the context of patient care
- Up to date knowledge of the clinical security framework
Personal Qualities
Essential criteria
- Working knowledge of clinical and security risk assessment.
- Understanding of health & safety in the Workplace.
- Up to date knowledge of Data Protection Act within the context of a high security environment.
