We have a fantastic opportunity for an On-Screen Journalist to join our ITV News West Country team based at our newsroom in Truro. This is a high profile, on-screen role for someone with a proven track record of delivering striking, high-quality, distinctive journalism on television, online and on social media.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record in journalism, with great story-telling ability as well as sound knowledge of broadcast regulation and the law. You'll want to serve our viewers in Cornwall and the wider South West by reporting on the topics that matter most to them, shining a light on injustice, celebrating local success and championing the people of and places in this wonderful region. You will use your journalistic skills to ensure your reports are informative, creative, factually accurate, fair and balanced. Self-shooting, editing and digital skills are essential.

We are a multi-platform operation so you will be enthusiastic about developing an online presence through our website, social media and the ITV West Country regional rail on ITVX.

As an established self-starter, you will immerse yourself in the community, ensure our newsgathering reflects the different communities that make up our audience and develop great contacts to deliver agenda-setting coverage across the region.

This is a busy news patch with the opportunity to find untold stories and you will need self discipline and an excellent work ethic to successfully work remotely. You must be a self-starter who regularly contributes original ideas. We will expect you to develop your camera and editing skills to complement our newsgathering and story-telling.

Alongside your first-class communication and team-working skills, experience of self-shooting, laptop editing and live reporting is desirable. You will also have proven experience of using social media to extend the reach of your journalism.

To be considered for an interview, you will need to submit a covering letter, a CV and a showreel no longer than 10 minutes in duration. Presenting experience is desirable but not essential.
