Salary: circa GBP 55,000 depending on experience

Location: Birmingham or Leeds

WFH policy: Employees are required to attend the office 2 days/week

Role Summary:The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in the operation and readiness of the new and emerging schemes including LCHA, ICC, ICC-W, GGR, REPG, SAF and LCD_CFD . This role focuses on delivering critical operational and compliance activities required to successfully run LCCC schemes.

Working across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, the Scheme Operations Manager champions operational excellence through effective contract interpretation, document control, data management, issue resolution, and the development and implementation of scheme delivery processes.

As LCCC is the counterparty to a growing number of new schemes, this role plays a critical part in preparing for operational start dates. This includes supporting the development of settlement systems and processes to ensure they are ready for go-live, operationally robust, and aligned to the requirements of new contracts.

You will be responsible for delivering key operational tasks while gaining in-depth knowledge of the schemes and the wider energy market.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Oversight & Forward Preparation

  • Prepare for new schemes by understanding settlement requirements within business models, with a particular focus on the underlying payment calculations, inputs, assumptions and operational implications.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to support delivery of new solutions.
  • Ensure visibility of payments (Generator, Producer, Emitter, Supplier or Shipper) and proactively manage issues and stakeholder communication.
  • Provide input into systems changes, including sign-off of calculations and participation in UAT as an end user.
  • Manage settlement instructions to ensure payment accuracy.
  • Oversee supporting processes (e.g, market price reviews).
  • Manage operational issues and escalations across Capacity Market, CfD and LCHA.

Internal Operational Activities

  • Support document control activities and process adherence.
  • Ensure regulatory accuracy across payments and scheme registers.
  • Sign off user stories during Settlement system development to ensure requirements are clear, accurate and aligned to operational needs.

Scheme Operations Only

  • Manage reference prices and adjustments, including Strike Price Adjustment (SPA) accuracy and notice production.
  • Support development and implementation of processes and procedures, with a focus on improved automation.
  • Support knowledge management and internal capability building.
  • Work with DESNZ, Ofgem, DBT, NESO, EMRS and other delivery partners to ensure scheme delivery and continuous improvement.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Excellent logic and reasoning skills to identify improvements and alternative solutions.
  • Superb Excel and/or data management capability.
  • Commercial experience as an Analyst/Manager
  • Experience in operations or strong motivation to learn operational delivery.
  • Understanding of document management principles.
  • Experience developing, improving, or embedding operational processes.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the UK energy policy landscape and regulation.
  • Knowledge of Hydrogen, CCUS and Sustainable Aviation Fuel markets
  • Experience with document management systems and document control processes.
  • Ability to interpret contracts, regulations and scheme rules.
  • Understanding of business process design.
  • Lean Six Sigma mindset.
  • Experience modelling or calculating scheme payments, including interpreting inputs, assumptions and adjustments.
