We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Sales & Business Development Manager - Plant & Machinery. There is flexibility where the role can be based - we have sites at Crewe, Doncaster or Southport.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Sales and Business Development Manager specialises in the technical sales aspects of rail infrastructure plant and equipment. The role plays a central role in every stage of the sales process - from planning the sales, customer engagement, closing the sale and training.

Is primarily responsible for ensuring the technical specification for each project is clearly defined. Will support pricing/bid process. The bid process manages the approvals through the business.

Responsible for managing both office and field based time to meet the needs of the customer, sales teams and the business. Regular progress and KPI reviews will be held collectively as a team via weekly Comm Cells and 1-1's with respective line manager. Role will be a combination of both proactive and reactive tasks.

Spread Of Skills & Analysis Required

Required to have a high level of initiative and a proactive mindset. Must be highly organised and be able to analyse data quickly and accurately.

Pressure & Working Environment

KPI's based on sales targets, profitability and customer engagement. Role is primarily field based but expected to be office based as appropriate to fully collaborate with internal teams. Extensive international travel is required. Communicate with senior executives in different time zones.

Qualifications & Education

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

Experience & Proven Ability Required

  • A high degree of emotional intelligence
  • Demonstrable sales experience
  • Can demonstrate experience of working in a senior role
  • Experience of working within a culture of continuous improvement
  • Previous experience of implementing good commercial practice
  • The ability to work on an individual basis
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of MS office
  • Experience in Railway Engineering. A good understanding of Engineering, preferably in Plant & Equipment
  • Experience of undertaking primary and secondary market research and analysis to support proposition and business development using qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Strong Project Management Skills
