Duration: Fixed Term Contract for 6 months, starting October 2024

About the Role

The On Trade Commercial Manager is responsible for the creation and execution of the Commercial strategy for the Ireland On Trade. These plans will be driven by a sales and quality team of over 250 people in 10,000 pubs, restaurants and hotels in Ireland and Northern Ireland. It presents an opportunity to be part of an impactful On Trade team that will support and grow your leadership in a dynamic, autonomous, entrepreneurial environment.

The successful person will put our customers and consumers at the heart of everything we do and deliver market share, sales and profit growth. They will identify business growth opportunities across our entire beer and spirits portfolio to deliver a triple win for the consumer, customer and Diageo.They will take bold decisions and actions, be able to convert insight into implementation by partnering with the On Trade Director, On Trade Sales Managers and key partners in On Trade, Marketing and Finance teams.

Top Accountabilities

  • Lead Commercial planning for On Trade and Quality with development of clear strategic priorities and share winning execution plan in line with brand, category and commercial strategy.
  • Partner with consumer marketing, shopper marketing and category strategy to ensure the development and execution of scalable growth drivers across quality, distribution, visibility, price, promotion and persuasion (QDVPPP).
  • Lead development and execution of investment strategy (beer and spirits) by partnering thoughtfully with sales team.
  • Oversee the implementation of the one commercial plan by partnering with all functions connected to the On Trade business to drive clarity, focus and flawless execution of key priorities across with particular focus on quality, distribution and investment.
  • Measure and evaluate the current strategy and course correct as the need arises.
  • Partner with Commercial Finance to ensure best in class measurement and evaluation processes to track key performance metrics, drive execution of plan and identify course correction actions at pace.
  • Lead periodic review and recommendation on revenue growth levers (pricing, investment, trade terms) to ensure we have a competitive advantage on customer value creation.
  • Support Marketing teams on business planning, brand initiatives and innovation projects.
  • Ensure data (share, sales, TRAX etc) is converted to insight to identify and implement growth opportunities.

About you

  • 5+ years of relevant commercial & marketing experience.
  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain genuine relationships based on mutual trust and respect.
  • Successful management of senior partners at all levels, resulting in strong and positive outcomes.
  • Being able to excel when dealing with ambiguity, complexity and working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and matrixed environment.
  • Strong end to end commercial FMCG understanding, alongside high levels of numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience of working with and leading a team, whether directly or indirectly.
  • Experience working across multiple countries/geographies/cultures.
