Job Description
Wincanton are recruiting for a People (HR) Manager to join our team a key client (Sainsbury's) Distribution Centre site in Thameside, London. The People Team at this large site supports around 500 colleagues. This is a true generalist site-based role operating in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for a confident and engaging leader that will come in and join a friendly team and be able to hit the ground running.

Role Responsibilities
- Ensure the provision of a high-quality people service through being a true business partner to site operational stakeholders in key areas of colleague retention, engagement, wellbeing, employee relations, learning & development, and reward
- Work in partnership with the leadership team to develop and then support the delivery of the site people plan
- Proactively facilitate and champion colleague wellbeing initiatives across the site
- Supporting ongoing volume recruitment in partnership with the resourcing team
- Play a lead role in forward thinking action planning to ensure the effective management of absence and retention supporting the achievement of contractual KPIs and targets
- Ensure compliance and keep up to date with new legislation and policy change
- Proactively analyse and identify areas of improvement, and be a key influencer to help drive change and deliver on social value projects such as the Million Hours Mission
- Work collaboratively with recognised Trade Union USDAW representatives to maintain a positive and constructive working relationship, implementing an employee relations climate of excellence to support ongoing cultural development
- Ensure relevant management training is identified, sourced and delivered, promoting a culture of learning and development across site
About you
- Strong generalist People / HR background with a track record of delivering as a People (HR) Manager.
- Good working knowledge of and experience with dealing high volume and complex ER issues
- Experience gained in a fast paced, logistics / retail environment with Trade Union Experience desirable.
- Experience in adapting to change based on business requirements
- Organised and self-starting with ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Results focused with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities with solid time management and organisational skills
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Large scale case management experience
- Excellent influencing skills and resilience
