DHL Air (UK) is the largest all-cargo air carrier in the UK, operating a fleet of B757-200, B767-300 & B777-200 aircraft on worldwide operations. Part of the DHL Express team with our headquarters at East Midlands Airport, we wish to enhance the team to deliver our customer promise of; Excellence, Simply Delivered.

We are looking to appoint a self-motivated individual that is people and service focused to join our Flight Operations team. Someone who gets it right 1st time, shows passion in their work and has the "Can Do" spirit that made DHL world leading in Logistics.

Reporting to the Head of Compliance and Safety, the Safety Manager's focus will be to support, facilitate and lead the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of DHL Air (UK)'s safety management system. Other duties include but are not limited to;

  • Managing the corporate safety management system which covers the requirements of Air Operations Regulations, Part CAMO, Part ATO, Part 145 and also includes occupational health and safety
  • Managing the Fatigue Risk Management System within Flight Operations
  • Managing the corporate risk management processes which include hazard identification, risk assessment and risk mitigation
  • Developing, establishing and oversight of an effective Occurrence Reporting Scheme
  • Developing, establishing and oversight of an operational flight data monitoring system

Requirements:

  • Qualification in Safety, Emergency response and/or Risk Management
  • Ideally hold 2 years management experience in the aeronautical industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of ICAO standards, European and UK requirements and provisions on safety management
  • Preferably hold a minimum of 3 years in safety-related roles

The Person:

  • A subject matter expert in safety management
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
  • Proven ability to develop, train and manage staff
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and balance a variety of work
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills, including timely identification and resolution of issues, skilled information gathering and analysis, and development of alternative or pragmatic solutions.
