The Role - Safety & Compliance Manager

As the Safety & Compliance Manager, you are responsible for assisting the General Manager in executing the Mission Solutions strategy as an integral part of Nova Systems International strategy through effective and focussed Safety and Quality management and leadership. The role encompasses working with the senior technical leadership team to grow the scope of approval as necessary to support the strategy, identify areas of improvements in technical processes to improve efficiency and compliance, and ensuring a coherent product development approach that meets the strategic objectives of the business.

You will have developed competencies in the following areas:

  • A sound understanding of regulatory requirements and approach, and the ability to provide regulatory guidance to the management team.
  • A sound understanding of commercial principles and business concerns and a proven ability to provide balanced recommendations and decisions between commercial needs and regulatory requirements.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Deliver excellence in accordance with the Nova Systems' vision and strategy
  • Act as company point of contact for all HSE Management System activities in Aerospace Integration
  • Maintain compliance with H&S legislation.
  • Act as Form 4 Holder and Competent Person for Compliance Monitoring Management and Safety Management within Aerospace Integration in Nova Systems (ISM for EASA Part 21J.)
  • Progress and maintain the company approvals: EASA Part 21J UKCAA Part 21G, UKCAA Part 145, ISO 9001and other customer specific approvals.
  • Maintain quality policy, compliance monitoring plan and audit procedures, ensuring they are continually reviewed, and improved.
  • Compliance investigations as required.
  • Maintain, review and update the POE, MOE and the Nova Systems integrated Management System Manual (IMS) ensuring it is current and relevant.
  • Own and drive SMS development and embedding activities on a day-to-day basis across Aerospace Integration in Nova Systems.
  • Work with relevant parties to ensure the processes and tools required to support the further development and embedding of the SMS as 'business as usual' are in place
  • Coordinate the development of the skills, training and competencies needed across Nova Systems to further develop and embed the SMS
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with UK CAA and EASA regulation in accordance with the QMS and SMS

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Acceptable to CAA/EASA as Form 4 post holder
  • Excellent knowledge of civil regulatory requirements related to design, manufacture and maintenance (specifically Part 21, Part 145).
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in the aerospace industry, specifically working in EASA or UK CAA maintenance, manufacturing or design organisations.
  • UK driver's license
  • Eligibility to work in the UK. Due to the nature of our projects, we can only accept applications from NATO-country passport holders.
  • High level of verbal and communication skills.
  • High level of ethics and integrity.
  • Flexible, positive and committed team member who works to a very high standard.

Desirable Experience

  • Familiarity with MoD and NATO quality systems, such as EMAR-21
  • Self-motivated with ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-starter with a drive and intellectual curiosity to continuously improve and develop professionally.

The Team - Aerospace Integration and Test (AIT)

Aerospace Integration and Test (AIT) team is led by Julian Lee - Executive General Manager and Ronnie Trasler - General Manager. The team are responsible for the effective leadership and management of the aerospace material production and maintenance function. They work in a hybrid manner (2-3 days in the office) and as flexibly as possible in line with business needs.

Where are we? Corsham Science Park,ten minutes from both M4 junction 17 and the City of Bath, in the South Cotswolds. Fun Fact - Under Corsham is the famous Burlington Bunker the secret underground City built in 50's.
