RTR Assistant Accountant

The Role

The team..

The Record to Report (RTR) team operates in a collaborative, fast-paced, and transformative financial environment. We act as a vital engine within ITV Finance, ensuring the highest standards of financial accuracy, internal control, and regulatory compliance. Our team embraces a digital and agile mindset, actively driving automation and continuous improvement to streamline core processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and land operational excellence across our accounting pillars.

The role..

We're looking for an RTR Assistant Accountant to join the team on a permanent basis. Reporting directly to the RTR Manager, you will perform necessary general ledger close procedures-including sub-ledger to GL activities, accruals, and journal adjustments-to ensure financial statements are accurate for each reporting period.

This is a key, multi-skilled role designed to support automation, efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness while maintaining strong internal controls. It is the perfect opportunity for a partly qualified or experienced assistant accountant with strong bookkeeping foundations who likes problem-solving, data investigation, and playing an active part in financial transformation.

Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and posting journals with appropriate auditable documentation, ensuring strict compliance with RTR journal policy and Chart of Accounts data principles.
  • Performing sub-ledger to GL close activities, elimination and allocation journal entries, and completing agreed recharges and reallocations.
  • Completing fixed asset accounting, including additions, depreciation, write-offs, impairments, and period close.
  • Assisting with specialised accounting areas, including lease accounting, High-End Television (HETV) accounting, and IFRS adjustments.
  • Correcting Fusion source data to understand and feed back on root-cause issues, driving right-first-time transactional data.
  • Supporting the annual calendar of audit activities and taking part in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for regular SaaS releases and other system developments.
  • Collaborating across RTR pillars and wider Finance Operations to resolve discrepancies, identify errors, and cross-train to ensure multi-skilled process coverage.
  • Creating and maintaining process documentation to ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are consistently followed.
  • Delivering defined performance service levels aligned with the team's established KPIs and SLAs.
  • Partnering with RTR managers and Continuous Improvement (CI) to identify automation initiatives and implement financial operational efficiencies.

Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)

  • Assistant accountant (partly qualified or equivalent) with practical experience working within a busy finance department.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, with the ability to construct journals, rectify miscodings, and perform comprehensive impact analysis on the P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, preferably Oracle Fusion ERP, along with developing IT skills across Google Suite and Microsoft Excel.
  • Well-organised and detail-oriented with good numeracy skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure.

Other things we're looking for (key criteria)

  • A genuine excitement for and openness toward process automation, finance transformation, and modern systems solutions.
  • A naturally curious approach that enjoys investigating data anomalies and resolving system discrepancies.
  • Highly resilient, comfortable working through uncertainty, and willing to adapt fluidly as priorities evolve.
  • A proactive team player who communicates clearly and works well as part of a collaborative, specialist function.
  • Previous experience working within an RTR department or utilising a large, corporate ERP system is highly desirable.

Potential Challenges

  • Requirement for longer working hours during intense month-end close periods.
  • Occasional limited weekend working may be required for critical period ends or systems testing for imminent software upgrades.
  • Supporting across the wider RTR team during critical busy periods, sickness cover, or other non-regular occurrences.

Please note, on occasion we may receive a very large volume of applications which means applications for a role may close earlier than the referenced closing date. We'd encourage you to apply as soon as possible if interested.
