About the role

As Senior Manager - Risk, you will be leading Risk and Risk Management Framework focussed activities that requires ownership and an ability to manage stakeholders across various levels.

This job is part of the Risk & Compliance team that supports the UK Advisory business, which is responsible for oversighting and upholding appropriate standards, rules and regulations given the complex regulatory landscape that the UK Advisory business is exposed to. Partner and support the Senior Manager - Compliance in priority activity.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the design, development, embedding and operation of the Advisory Risk Management Framework including, Risk Policies, Risk Processes and Risk Reporting.
  • Develop and lead a multi-year Risk & Control Self-Assessment Program in co-ordination with the Senior Manager Compliance.
  • Provide second line oversight and support to first line teams on risk management practices.
  • Act as a champion for emerging risk identification and continuous improvement of the control landscape.
  • Collaborate across the Global Ethics and Compliance function and wider business to embed best practice.
  • Providing leadership and guidance for the business and risk colleagues to implement the risk and control framework.
  • Working with the business to enable the development, assessment and reporting on risks, risk mitigation activities, processes and controls in support of a strong risk culture.
  • Supporting the risk assessments of other significant business change transformation projects.
  • Leading Assurance(control) Testing and Monitoring, and Contract assurance activities.
  • Co-ordinate the Global Annual Risk Assessment for UK Advisory.
  • Agreeing and monitoring the implementation of action plans to remediate documented issues.
  • Own and lead on the production of risk reporting for UK Advisory Risk Committee, Executive Committees, Board meetings, including drafting papers and regulatory responses.
  • Provide advice, support, training and challenge to first line on risk management matters
  • Ownership of ISO 9001 certification and the internal audit program.
  • Lead ISO9001 audit activities.

The individual will possess:

  • Strong Problem Solving Skills: Strong problem solving, investigative, and analytical skills to identify, address, and resolve risk issues that may arise.
  • Organisational Proficiency: Exceptional multitasking ability and highly organised work style. Demonstrated ability to assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques; structure potential solutions; drive to resolution with senior stakeholders
  • Work Ethic: Action and results orientated, an organiser with strong planning ability, high resilience and attention to detail who works in an agile and collaborative way.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Proficient in both oral and written communication, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly. Ability to challenge business management and escalate issues when appropriate
  • Team Collaboration and Autonomy: Ability to work collaboratively while also independently driving initiatives.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven ability to lead, influence and communicate across all levels of the organisation with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with embedding Risk Management Frameworks
  • Experience in a second line, consulting, or audit role with strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a comprehensive understanding of industry best practices and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders to develop action plans and ensure their timely execution, driving necessary changes proactively.
  • Skilled in producing and presenting management information that informs decision-making processes.
  • Ability to cultivate strong working relationships across all organisational levels.
  • Competence in synthesizing information from various sources and distilling key insights for diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of RICS regulations, FCA Handbook, risks and appropriate controls.
