Job Description

This role supports our divisions in making risk-informed decisions, ensuring effective management of risk across contract/projects from work winning to contract delivery, and in supporting risk transformation activities. The role provides targeted 1st line and 2nd line support to help project / contract leadership teams to understand risk requirements and carry out risk activities in line with Costain's management framework. The role plays an important part in supporting the Divisional Risk Team to provide effective business partnering to the Division at a contract/project level. the role may also support delivery of the teams Sector and Divisional risk management objectives.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Supports and facilitates work winning and contract delivery risk management including the identification, assessment of threats and opportunities, Quantitative Risk Analysis (Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis and Cost Risk Modelling), response planning and implementation, reporting and review.
• Supports the Divisional Risk team and for some stages of the process leads sector risk activities including facilitation of the risk management process, development of risk data, and producing risk analysis and reports.
• Supports the Divisional Risk team in developing, delivering, and implementing elements of the Group Risk & Assurance team's transformation workstream to improve risk management across sectors and contracts.
• Supports risk assurance activities, including undertaking risk practice maturity assessments and supporting teams in implementing recommendations and improvement actions.
• Ensures risk standards and procedures set by the Group R&A team are understood and provides support to sector and contract teams to help them apply these to produce high quality risk products in support of work winning and delivery governance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

• Competent in applying technical subject matter expertise in a practical way to support informed risk management activities across contracts, programmes, and projects through delivery phases.
• Experience of planning collaborative risk activities using a range of techniques to facilitate 1st line business teams to identify, define, evaluate, respond to and report on risks to project objectives. § Awareness and experience of using qualitative and quantitative risk assessment criteria and supporting (with risk owners) the identification of controls and risk responses

Desirable

• Awareness and /or experience of delivering 1st and/or 2nd line risk management activities in a complex / multi-level organisation.
• Awareness of project planning & controls, quality management and commercial contracting risks.
• Awareness and / or experience of supporting bid risk management activities, for example identifying risks with members of the bid team.

Qualifications

Essential

• Project Risk qualification, for example APM Risk Cert 1&2
• APM PFQ
• Or equivalent qualifications or experience

Desirable

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, project management or relevant technical subject (engineering, science, maths, accounting or economics)
• Axelos Management of Risk (MoR) Foundation
• Or equivalent qualifications or experience
