Role Purpose:

  • Reporting to the Senior Communications & Engagement Manager, responsible for delivery of all retail events in line with bid commitments, the retail communications strategy and the Retailer Charter.
  • Driving engagement of internal retail teams and key stakeholders through the delivery of retail conferences, events and briefings.
  • Support the Head of Retail Strategy & Operations with the running of the Retailer Forum, trade body/industry events and relevant award submissions.

This role is offered on a permanent basis. We offer hybrid working with an expectation that the successful candidate will be in our Watford HQ office twice a week.

The Team:

  • A core function within the Retail Strategy & Operations Team whose mission is to bring The National Lottery to life for retailers.
  • The Communication & Engagement Team owns all B2B communication to retailers via print, digital, trade media and trade press channels. They own and operationalise The Retailer Hub, all sales tools for the RST and Channels teams and are instrumental in driving delivery of 'The Value of Lottery' category story.

Role Responsibilities:

Events & Awards

  • To lead development and delivery a calendar of sales conferences and briefings on time and within budget.
  • Managing third party agencies to deliver the event, booking speakers, determining the 'look & feel' of the events and taking ownership for all content.
  • Management of all event admin including delegate lists, invites, communications, accommodation, subsistence, entertainment and travel; working directly with our events supplier/s.
  • To liaise with counterparts within Allwyn countries to determine relevant content for events as appropriate.
  • To support the Head of Retail Strategy & Operations with the running of the Retailer Forums
  • Support the Senior Comms & Engagement Manager with the collation and submission of RLT approved award entries.
  • To own all retailer events within the functional Social Value plan to support the delivery of Prosperous Places.

Trade Bodies

  • Create and deliver all necessary content to support the annual JBPs agreed with trade bodies in relation to events and conferences
  • Manage all trade event kits from creation of content and assets to logistics (delivery & storage).

Trade Media

  • Deliver Allwyn involvement/ sponsorship of retail events running in conjunction with trade media third parties.
  • Manage delivery in line with agreed timeframes and budgets.

Budget Management

  • Manage the day to day operation of the events allocation of the Trade Marketing budget.

Skills and Experience:

  • Significant experience planning and executing events of all types
  • A keen interest in event production and the ability to understand technical planning
  • Flawless attention to detail
  • Proven experience working with Trade press and/or Trade bodies in a fast-moving industry.
  • Retailer-centric and with demonstrable experience of always putting the retailer/customer at the heart
  • Proven experience working cross-functionally to deliver complex projects with multiple deliverables
  • Proven experience working across different levels of the organisation with strong stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to think how to solve a problem, plus the capacity to go out and put your plan into action
  • Good understanding of different virtual meeting/ event platforms
  • Naturally curious, challenges the norm, whilst being receptive and considerate to other ways of approaching things
  • Always looking to better themselves - understanding of their own strengths and areas for development

As part of our onboarding processes, all successful candidates will need to complete both a Pre-Employment Screening process and a Fit & Proper check by the Gambling Commission. These checks include a DBS (an enhanced check, which shows convictions and conditional cautions), credit and social media checks. As part of our application process, you will be asked to identify in advance if you have spent or unspent convictions that we need to be aware of.

Should you not disclose convictions at the application stage, not pass the Fit & Proper Check process or not complete your Pre-Employment Screening then unfortunately you may not pass our probation process.
