Location: Heron Foods Store Support Centre, Melton (HU14 3HJ) + 2 days per week in the field
Salary: Circa £competitive (dependent on experience)
Are you an organised and collaborative professional with a flair for planning, communication, and cross-functional coordination? Heron Foods is offering an exciting new opportunity to join our Retail Operations team as Retail Activity Planning Manager - a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of retail initiatives across our 340+ stores nationwide.
This is your chance to own and manage our Retail Activity Calendar, sitting at the heart of our fast-paced food retail business. You'll act as the central link between our Store Support Centre and retail teams, aligning stakeholders, minimising risks, and ensuring every campaign, promotion, and initiative lands effectively in stores.
With three days a week based at our Store Support Centre in Melton and two days in the field, this hybrid role gives you the opportunity to stay close to our operational teams and see the real impact of your planning.
We're looking for a proactive, detail-focused individual who thrives on organisation and enjoys working across departments to deliver seamless customer and colleague experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the Retail Activity Calendar, ensuring all campaigns, initiatives, and promotions are planned, aligned, and deliverable.
- Lead the coordination and scheduling of retail activities across all stores, balancing operational priorities with commercial needs.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across Marketing, Supply Chain, HR, IT, and Store Operations.
- Develop clear and concise communication and briefing documents for store teams to ensure successful activity execution.
- Assess the impact of planned activities, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
- Monitor effectiveness of activity delivery and use feedback to drive continuous improvement in planning processes.
- Act as the central point of contact for activity planning, ensuring alignment and clarity across the business.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in retail operations, planning, or project management within a fast-paced environment (ideally food retail).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence to influence at all levels.
- Analytical mindset and attention to detail, with experience using Microsoft Office Suite and planning tools.
- Collaborative approach, with the ability to drive alignment across multiple departments.
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent in Business, Retail Management, or related field.
- Experience with retail planning software or workflow tools.
- Knowledge of food retail compliance and operational standards.
