Background
In 2023, we started our journey to create, implement and embed a One Dentsu approach to Resource Management and Workforce Planning. The UK, as one of our major markets, is an early adopter and currently undergoing transformation which sees us building a new resource management function alongside the implementation Adobe Workfront as our enabling technology. For the first time in our 125-year history, we will have a consistent and connected approach to managing our client demand and employee capacity across one dentsu.
Role purpose
The purpose of the Resource Manager role is to manage supply and demand across practise area(s) with accountability for executing strategies to meet resourcing needs for client teams and the organisation. They will partner and collaborate with growth, HR, finance, operations and talent acquisition to staff teams timely and ensure excellence in client delivery.
Key Accountabilities
Resource Management fundamentals:
- Owns and manages resource requests by validating requirements and affordability, searches for candidates and presents candidates for consideration
- Assists in reviewing capacity across capability areas on an ongoing basis and proactively works to re-balance professionals who are above / below utilisation targets
- Identifies instances of current and potential future over/under utilization and work with leadership to address issues and mitigate risk
- Resolve staffing conflicts to the satisfaction of all parties, which may include identifying creative staffing alternatives and negotiating with projects and resources
- Liaises between Account, service line leadership, recruiting, HRBP, Operations for applicable supply and demand
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date administrative tasks and system updates relating to supply and demand
- Proactively reviews opportunity pipeline to create and understand the picture of upcoming demand
Talent centricity at the heart of Resource Management:
- Understands and communicates the impacts (financial, client relationship, skill) of applying one resource over another or removing a resource from work
- Proactively engages with resources, gains meaningful understanding of their skills, experience and aspirations, and identifies the right opportunities for them
You are the interconnect between multiple team members to enable successful Resource Management:
- Supports resource meetings to understand impacts to resource needs (new projects, timeline movement, etc.) and facilitates risk/issue mitigations
- Captures action items and meeting notes on weekly/bi-weekly Resource Management calls with leadership teams
- Partner with team members and leadership in implementing continuous improvement related to resource management, talent pipelining, acquisition and onboarding - including contractor and off, near and onshore
Professional Skills
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in Resource Management, Recruitment or Operational position
- Experience in using Workfront for Resource Management is an advantage
- Experience in creating and analysing MI across people, client and financial datasets
- Experience of stakeholder management at all levels
- The ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal communication
- Proven ability to co-ordinate and manage various projects at the same time, involving numerous stakeholders, multi-tasking among competing demands
- Ability to think innovatively in developing and executing change
- Able to foresee potential issues in advance and successfully navigate around those
- Proactive, hands on and a "problem solver"
- Experience with financial concepts, practices, and administration
- Focus on building processes and improvement in staffing efficiencies
- Comfortable in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines
- Consultative
- Action driven, service oriented, self-managed and high degree of autonomy
