Kennedys is looking for a Resource Manager to join our UK Insurance Division, providing resource allocation support to our Professional Liability and Property Energy and Construction teams. The successful Resource Manager will ensure the efficient and effective allocation of resources across these two legal teams. Within this role they will centralise the management of lawyer workloads, removing the delegation of these tasks from Partners to allow them to focus on their core responsibilities. They will ensure productivity is optimised and that all work is adequately supported with the necessary resources, fostering a collaborative work environment allowing the Firm to deliver a leading service to clients.

Team

Kennedys' professional liability team deal with all areas of professional liability and handle claims of all sizes and complexity, including for Insurers who underwrite some of the world's largest financial institutions, global law firms, the 'Big Four' accounting firms, as well as for Insurers who underwrite regional, local and smaller institutions and firms.

The Kennedys PEC team specialises in property, energy and construction insurance claims, assisting insurers and reinsurers of major multi-national companies in relation to their global exposures. We provide coverage advice and defend high-value, international and complex claims.

Professional Liability and Property Energy and Construction are both teams within the UK Insurance Division.

Key responsibilities

  • Centralise and manage the allocation of workloads across all departments, ensuring that tasks and projects are distributed optimally to facilitate greater productivity and efficiency
  • Facilitate the distribution of work within regional offices, making use of regional resources to support Firm-wide collaboration and delivery
  • Monitor and access resource utilisation and forecast future needs to ensure that all teams have the correct provisions to meet client demands and deadlines
  • Work closely with partners to understand their needs and deliverables, and relieve them of resource management so they can focus on their day-to-day client-facing responsibilities
  • Continue to evaluate all resource management processes, focussing on best practices and enhancing efficiency and effectiveness

Required experience

  • Proven experience in resource management within a law firm or professional services environment
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge in managing and allocating workloads across multiple departments, ensuring a balanced and efficient use of resources
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with senior Partners and stakeholders, aligning resource to meet with Firm objectives
  • Experience in managing budgets relating to resource allocation, and being mindful of cost-effective solutions but maintaining high quality output
  • Experience of evaluating and improving resource management processes
  • Familiarity with UK legal and regulatory requirements relating to resource management, ensuring compliance in all areas
  • Previous experience of resource management software and tools, with an ability to utilise these to facilitate resource planning and allocation
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and manage conflicts effectively
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle unexpected changes and challenges
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Additional responsibilities

  • Identify skills gaps and arrange any training requirements as required with HR L&D to enable internal resource to be fully prepared for current and future demands
  • Track and evaluate the performance of teams and individuals, providing feedback where applicable and implementing actions to maintain quality and efficiency standards
  • Oversee resource related budgets, ensuring budget adherence and that cost-effective provisions are in place
  • Ensure awareness of client expectations and how they are being met through resource management, developing continuous measures to enable improved client satisfaction and relationship management
  • Integrate resource management software to enhance accuracy and efficiency in resource and allocation planning
  • Prepare detailed reports on resource utilisation, productivity and efficiency, presenting insights and making recommendations to senior-management and Partners
  • Ensure any legal compliance is adhered to and meeting regulatory requirements, minimising any risks relating to individuals and resource allocation.
