We are looking for a project manager to plan, co-ordinate and drive research activities across two of our flagship research programmes led by the Centre for Vision Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP) and the Surrey Institute for People-Centred AI at the University of Surrey. These programmes are funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)
- AI4ME is a five-year UKRI-EPSRC prosperity partnership led by the University of Surrey in collaboration with the BBC and the University of Lancaster. This programme is at the forefront of pioneering AI technologies to enable the creation and delivery of future personalised media experiences for everyone which can adapt to individual interests, accessibility requirements and preferences.
- The CoSTAR National Lab is the largest investment in creative industries research and development (R&D) in UK history: a £51.1m UKRI-AHRC programme to develop a National R&D Lab for creative technologies to ensure the UK's screen and performance industries have the innovation infrastructure needed to compete globally. The University of Surrey leads the Creative AI Futures research programme in the CoSTAR National Lab. including digital humans, generative AI, media provenance and AI for creative technologies and storytelling.
This full-time role balances responsibilities across both research programmes (50:50). As a key team member, the Research Programme Manager is responsible for the planning, preparation, execution, communication and reporting of the two research programmes. The successful applicant should have a proactive and engaging attitude driven by enthusiasm for AI and creative technology, along with strong communication skills. Excellent project management experience, organisational and administrative skill are essential. Experience working in multi-disciplinary research teams and across organisations will be advantageous.
The role is part of the wider team supporting the activities of the Surrey Institute for People-Centred AI (PAI). Applicants should relish the opportunity and challenge of contributing to the success of these two UK flagship R&D programmes for the Creative Industries working with world-leading higher education institutions and industry partners.
PAI builds on 40 years of expertise leading foundational advances in AI and pioneering ground-breaking technologies for the creative industries, healthcare and communication through CVSSP (ranked 1 st in the UK for computer vision research and 3 rd for AI and robotics).
We embrace flexible working arrangements, with an expectation of on-site presence at the University of Surrey for at least 50% of the working week (alongside collaboration with our partner organisations as required).
