Research and Data Connections Manager, Choreograph Panel Solutions Team

The Panel Solutions team sits at the heart of Choreographs Data Product division as part of Insights and Planning. We are responsible for managing panel-based data solutions, ensuring that consumer behaviour is driving decision-making in all our client work; delivering a globally consistent, connected, customised & industry-leading data asset to support our entire media planning & activation ecosystem.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a research manager to join the team responsible for the development and management of our Panel fusions and data connections (Momentum, Audience Origin, BAV and local syndicated data sources). Momentum is our flagship strategic-research approach for understanding the purchase journey. Audience Origin is an industry-leading global audience survey of lifestyle and media behaviours. BAV is WPP's global Brand Asset Valuator study.
This role requires a strong foundation in research design, operations, and data management, coupled with the ability to innovate and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team of researchers, data scientists and engineers. This role is ideal for someone passionate about research design, data fusion, and delivering impactful solutions through collaboration and innovation. As a vital member of the Data Product and Panel Solutions team, you will drive innovation, optimize research design, and scale data fusion processes across core panel products.
The candidate must have a solid research background, particularly in online quantitative research, in the following areas:
- Research project design including feasibility assessment, sample design, budgeting and vendor management
- Writing and reviewing questionnaires including screening & routing
- Experience of large-scale, multi-market research
- Understanding of the role and/or application of data fusion as a method for connecting survey datasets
- Applied experience of research operations and data processing
This person must be highly numerate and completely at ease manipulating and making sense of raw data in Excel.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Research and data connections manager will report to the Data Strategy Lead, and be responsible for supporting the strategy and delivery of our research data fusion projects, and Panel Solutions research studies
Data Connections:
• Support the roll-out of key proprietary fusions including Audience Origin and BAV.
• Oversee data governance and tracking processes for fusions to ensure data quality and compliance.
• Ensure strong collaboration between research, data science and engineering practices
• Ensure these data connections are focused on outputs that fuel planning tools in a robust and impactful way
Research:
• Ensure learnings from fusion projects are integrated into core research design to enhance product development.
• Contribute to the strategy & delivery for the Momentum Datalake roll-out in 2025
• Ongoing support and management in delivering existing Momentum studies with the wider team
Innovation:
• Identify new opportunities for research-driven product development, including contributions to thought leadership on synthetic data and its role in our tools.
• Collaborate with engineers and data scientists to design and deliver innovative, connected data solutions.
WHO YOU ARE
The following will be essential for the right candidate:
- Methodical and an excellent attention to detail
- Excellent quantitative research skills
- Good at logical thinking and problem-solving - thinking up alternative solutions or more suitable approaches when the usual is not appropriate
- Excellent time management and adherence to deadlines
- Comfortable communicating clearly and tactfully with people at every level and ability to develop strong working relationships
- Comfortable presenting to a larger audience (mainly via Teams)
- Good at working independently and as part of a close-knit team
- Someone who deals with pressure and tight deadlines with calm, good humour
- Comfortable working with large datasets
